The release of the movie Gone With The Wind is as old today as was the start of the American Civil War was back then. In other words, the start of World War II is as vintage as the start of the "War Between The States" was then.

Super Mario Galaxy is as old today as Super Mario 64 was back then.

The destruction of the Berlin Wall is as old today as the last year before its construction (1960) was back then.

The assassination of Martin Luther King is as old today as the battle of Argonne Forest in WW1 was back then.

The Wall Street crash of 1929 is as old today as when the first photographs were being taken in 1840 was then.

The Oaklohoma city bombing is as old today as the Munich Olympics terrorist attack in 1972 was then.

The Nazi Invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 is as old today as the battle of Westport during the civil war was then.

The space shuttle challenger disaster is as old today as "The day rock and roll was born (July 5, 1954)" was then.

The release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves in 1937 is as old today as the Crimean War was then.

Gladiator, X-Men, Almost Famous, Memento, Cast Away, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Scary Movie, American Psycho is as old to current movie watchers today as was Blade Runner, The Thing, Poltergeist, Tron, Rocky III, E.T. the Extraterritorial, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Annie, Conan the Barbarian, Fast Times at Ridgemont High was to movie watchers then (in 2000).

Sorry, but it's actually not technically there yet because it was released late in 2007, so taking months into account and not simply the full year, Super Mario Galaxy is closer to 10 years ago than 11 years ago. Right now, its release date is as close to today as it is to mid-1997.

* When I graduated kindergarten, The Black Cauldron was as old as Shrek 2 is today.

* When I graduated kindergarten, Mötley Crüe's Dr. Feelgood album was as old as Lady Gaga's The Fame is today.

* When I graduated kindergarten, Michael Jackson's Thriller was as old as The Strokes' Is This It is today.

The year 2000 is as old today as the Falklands War (UK vs Argentina) was back then.
