I think the mid-Atlantic accent gradually started to disappear after World War II. By the 1960s, the accent was mostly only used for certain documentaries or just to serve a purpose. The accent had disappeared by the Late 60s/Early 70s, if i'm not mistaken.

It was mostly used in the early-mid 20th century. So I guess it drifted off after everybody used more modern accents.

lol. A lot of things from the 20th century where interesting to see transition towards the early 2000s. I'm saying this because she died in 2003.
