Subject: 2010s are the last normal decade tech-wise.

Idk, the 2020s will be like The Jetsons imo

Well, by 2020 there will be texting by thinking and self-driving cars. Robot maids will come around the 2070s imo, if you're talking about The Jetsons style.

The idea of calling a decade "the last normal decade tech-wise" is just odd. Whatever people are used to will be considered as "normal". 1980s was normal tech-wise and in the 1980s they thought the 2010s would be all futuristic.

January 2020 is only 3 years and 4 months away. I really have my doubts that we will be using flying cars or robot assistants (for around the house) next decade...

Uhh... I don't think there's even been a decade that's "normal" tech-wise in hindsight. Whatever we're living right now is going to be normal until something else comes along and breaks the status-quo. Also, depends heavily on your definition of "normal tech", as well.

That seems subjective. Knowing that the 2010s would be the last normal decade tech-wise is a bit weird. You could have people from the 1960s or 70s predicting that the 2010s would have futuristic technology. Needless to say, I don't even think the 2020s would be that futuristic.

VR is failing, so we should probably add a few more years until we can be "in the future". Hoverboards are impossible and self-driving cars aren't really that big of a step forward (if you ask me now compared to the past).

Wait really? Isn't that what people are hoping for in some way?

At the moment it's pretty much a toy/gimmick.

Speaking of technology, it's all becoming simpler, which you can thank Apple on and the gaming industry outside of MOBAs and esports. There's much less customisation, which increases productivity, but can also decrease it in some instances such as automating some processes and not others (IDK, would you like to write a report entirely in plain text or with a much smaller selection of styles than a desktop equivalent app offers?) and there's not much for personalising one's tech and/or gaming experience now that social media and online gaming dominates one's emotional experience with technology.

I hope that with the next generation, which has computer science/coding as a mandatory topic, that technology will become more complex. Right now I'm annoyed that there isn't an easily programmable TV, most the "smart TVs" are pretty dumb. :-\\

As in adjusting frequencies? If so, then I just live in the UK, where we've phased out analogue.
Smart TVs, compared to iDevices, are more complex than iPhones simply because some run Android.

Same with "smart" phones, which don't really pay attention to your demands. They think that most people use them for texting, so whenever I'm posting with my iPhone, it's a pain in the ass. Especially when I have to put something in bold.

Oh, I mean being able to write scripts on it and automate stuff. One of my hobbies is
language learning, so, say, being able to have the TV turn on to a foreign language TV show (from my media server) as soon as the alarm on my phone goes off would be super useful. ;D

You can do a lot of powerful things with a rooted Android phone. iPhone is meant to be more streamlined I think.

Nice. I'm missing out, :\'( since I want to learn a foreign language, but I suck at it. I don't want to be like one of those Americans and British people who make people speak English.
I could say the same about customisation in video games, but you could use the links in my sig to find out more.
One could blame how the big companies overlook this when giving us our systems, or I could blame the people who make such devices profitable.
Next decade, I want to see video games outside of MOBAs be full of features, and not just have pretty graphics. I would like games to be closer to virtual personalised worlds in the literal sense, i.e. you could customise how your character interacts with it.

Thankfully, Android is a lot like Symbian. I just hate the mobile games that are for Android and iOS. It's a shame that even paid games such as Hitman: Go are more inspired by stuff like web games (which I find is lazy) compared to even 2.5D Java versions of the Gangstar games and even had this neat Sims clone:
http://1079638729.rsc.cdn77.org/file_exchange/java_game_images/games/3/2091/real/7.jpg
The game is My Life in New York, and was available for Symbian devices.
These days, unique mobile games are either paid or are made by EA. EA and Gameloft even made racing games that have only linear progression and NO SINGLE RACE MODE (Asphalt 8: Airborne and Need for Speed: "No Limits"). Why the quotes for the latter? If you can't afford a connection to install an update or something for the game, you'll be playing on the same predefined circuits by the devs and publishers. What if you don't like the game mode for the specific track or vice versa?

Probably by then, we had mastered the art of ESP?

So what will we use by then?
