Subject: What is your favorite music format?

From vinyl to digital, which format do you like the best?

I usually like CDs. They're small, portable, and you could play with them on any device which supports the format.

I miss cassette tapes. Easy to fix when they break, small enough to be portable and more reliable than the digital media players.

I do too, all from the 90s! I still have 'em in boxes. Maybe I'll take them out and listen to them.

tapes 8)
Once, in 1998, I taped a whole top 40 radio show, on 4 tapes. 10 songs on each tape! It was fun as heck.
Okay, I'm trolling, just a little bit! ;) CD's are more awesome than tapes, in my opinion.
Although the top 40/tape story is true.

I also have mine stored in boxes, I used to tape music from the radio.

True. I've taken for granted being able to play them on a computer.

I miss them too. I agree, they were easy to fix.
CD and MP3.
Do you often record MP3 songs onto CD's?
Vinyl, mp3 or CD. I love records and have several songs in record format.
Vinyl seems to be coming back so it's nice that you are able to find them in stores again.
Those were the best, I still have mine.
I do too. I have a lot of cassette singles.

MP3 is very convenient. It's nice that out of print songs are available for purchase as downloads.

10 songs? Were they long mixes? They used to sell two hour blank cassettes.
I also have mine stored in boxes, I used to tape music from the radio.
I did too. I taped over some of them which I regret doing now.
No love for 8 track? ;D

So do I!
In fact, I also have a tape recorder, which I occasionally use.

Sometimes they were hard to fix too when the tape would get stuck in the machine. :o

I don't really use mine anymore.

I still have a boombox and the tape player still works. The CD player doesn't anymore though.

I used to yank it out as carefully as I could and then if it was too tangled up to remove safely I would cut it. Then put a very small piece (only enough to hold it together) of clear tape over it and wind it back up. They would play after that.

I hated when they tangled up like that. Thankfully, all my cassette tapes are in great condition. :)

That was the worse part of a mangled cassette tape.

The ones I taped could only hold 12 songs at the most.

So are mine, thankfully. And all the ones belonging to my parents; they are in good working order.

Same with mine. The radio also works just fine as well.

I used to do that sometimes as well (most recently about 5 yrs or so ago); often times the quality was not the same, though.

I use to do that a lot when I was growing up. I would always choose the best cassette tapes by brand name ones. The best were TDK's, Sony, and Maxell.

I often use (or have used) ones that have up to 90 minutes of recording time (45 on either side).

Heaven forbid the tape should end before the song you were recording...I HATED that. So yeah, 90 minutes was best. :)

That's why I often liked to time songs as I listened to them on the radio. Now, with Youtube, I know how long (in minutes and seconds) most songs are, give or take a few seconds.
