Subject: How would you classify the generations in Germany
Written By: d90 on 02/16/16 at 12:39 am
In my opinion
1. 1942-1957
2. 1958-1986 generation that grew up when Germany was split
3. 1987- this generation has no memory of life during the Berlin wall

It's basically the same with Boomers, X, Y, and Z. But since Germany was really different during the 20th century, it probably goes something like this.
1886 - 1890: The youngest WWI veterans for Germany.
1891 - 1914: Young adults during the Weimar Republic.
1915 - August 31, 1921: Young adults during pre-WWII Nazi Germany.
September 1, 1921 - May 7, 1927: Young adults during post-WWII Nazi Germany. Oldest kids during Nazi Germany. Can remember Hitler's first day as chancellor of Germany.
May 8, 1927 - 1930: Young adults during Allied-occupied Germany. Can vaguely remember Hitler's first day as chancellor of Germany.
1931 - 1972: Young adults during East and West Germany's era.
1973 - 1998: Young adults during modern-day Germany.
1999 - present: Today's kids and teens of Germany.

1900 and before: Multiple generations that grew up/were young adults during the German Empire, Holy Roman Empire, Confederation of Rhine etc.
1901-1914: Generation that grew up during the Weimar Republic
1915-1927: Generation that fought/was a young adult during WWII.
1928-1942: Generation that were young adults during West/East Germany but still before the Berlin Wall
1943-1971: Generation that were young adults during the times of the Berlin Wall
1972-1986: Generation that grew up during the time of the Berlin Wall
1987-?: Generation that learned about the Berlin Wall at school and has no memory of life before it.
Few years give or take.
