I consider it two be two golden ages of cinema
(Late 1930s-1950s) and (Late 60s- to the VERY early 80s)
But my favorite....damn that's tough! >:( My two favorites would be 70s and 80s! :)
For kids movies, the 90s! of course ::) with the 2000s coming in at second!

If I am to chose any decades, it would be the decades when film directors Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick were alive and making movies.

Alfred Hitchcock was making silent films in the 1920's, so it would be 1920's to 1999.

Wow, didn't know that.
I think his most famous movies, during his peak, were from the 50s and 60s.

Please add Steven Spielberg for another of my favourite film directors, his films are outstanding, dating for 1970's to date.

Tough call. I like the 80's horror films, but this decade is coming out with some good stuff.

Late 90s and 2000s, because that's the time when I started to watch movies in the cinema. I like older movies from the b&w times, though, but I prefer the 70s and later if I want to relate to the era at least a bit.

The 80's was renowned for several horror series, not just stand alone titles. Not that every series stayed good until the end, sometimes corners were cut along the way, but I say that's the decade that did horror. This decade has the best graphics and effects.

It's already too realistic/too clear IMO. I also prefer the last "good old" days of real film in the early-mid 2000s. The graphics were already pretty good then.

I noticed this on Netflix.

After 1988, 1989, the horror genre kind of went out of style until like 1996/97.
