Subject: dual roles
Written By: Howard on 05/01/14 at 7:16 am
I was just thinking about this topic the other day. Let me explain, "dual roles" are actors and actresses that play themselves. In another words, they play twins like when I was watching Full House and John Stamos portrayed himself as Stavros the con man from Greece who come to visit the family. That episode was from 1994.
http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120617010602/fullhouse/images/b/bb/Stavros.jpg
So if anybody have anything to contribute, feel free. :) It can be from movies and or television.

Hahahaha! Stavros! I remember him. He was kind of a creep, right?
Why, Steve Urkel and Stefan Urquelle from Family Matters, of course.
http://www.digitaloperative.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Erkell.jpg
Although, he didn't play Steve's "twin" per se.

You really should check out from 9:39 onward. Brent Spiner not only plays dual roles-try triple roles. It is really hard to believe that there is only ONE actor. Brent Spiner is an OUTSTANDING actor who I believe is totally underrated.

Peter Sellers was due to play the Major T. J. "King" Kong role, but Slim Pickens was chosen for the role due to an injury (broken ankle, I think) to Peter Sellers.

In the film 1949 comedy "Kind Hearts and Coronets" Alec Guinness played eight members of the D'Ascoyne family: Ethelred "the Duke", Lord Ascoyne "the Banker", Reverend Lord Henry "the Parson", General Lord Rufus "the General", Admiral Lord Horatio "the Admiral", Young Ascoyne, Young Henry and Lady Agatha D'Ascoyne. He also plays the seventh duke in brief flashback sequences to Mama's youth.

Jack Tripper portrayed his identical twin Austin from Texas.
I loved that episode!! He had a challenge on his hands in the scene where Mr. Furley arrives, and Jack had to convince Mr. Furley that he really had a twin brother (which, of course, he didn't; this was something made up).
In a similar gag, there is an episode from the 6th season of Full House in which Jesse enters Nicky and Alex into a twins competition to challenge Rebecca's visiting cousin Dick, who enters his twin daughters into the same competition. In one scene, Stephanie meets a pair of twin boys and tells them that she has a twin sister named Bethany (even donning a hat when she "comes back")...but the idea fails.

There's also the movie The Parent Trap. In both versions, the twins are each played by one actress. The original, from 1961, stars Hayley Mills as Susan and Sharon McKendrick. The remake, from 1998, has Lindsay Lohan playing Hallie Parker and Annie James.

There was another episode of Full House in which a starring actor played a dual role. Dave Coulier, who played the main character Joey Gladstone, also played Joey's uncle Jasper, the owner of a haircut facility, in a Season 6 episode, namely the one in which Jesse and Rebecca take their twin sons, Nicky and Alex, for their first haircuts. (This was the B-plot of the episode in which Stephanie wants pierced ears.)

In Dark Shadows most actors had multiple roles.
For instance:
John Karlen played:
-Willie Loomis
-Desmond Collins
-Kendrick Young
-Carl Collins
-William H Loomis
Nancy Barrett played:
-Carolyn Stoddard
-Charity Trask
-Melanie Collins
-Leticia Faye
-Millicent Collins
Joan Bennett played:
-Elizabeth Collins Stoddard
-Judith Collins
-Naomi Collins
-Flora Collins
Louis Edmonds played:
-Roger Collins
-Edward Collins
-Joshua Collins
-Daniel Collins
-Brutus Collins
-Amadeus Collins
It goes on like that for most of the actors. But I think the record goes to Thayer David who played:
-Professor Timothy Stokes
-Ben Stokes
-Count Petofi
-Matthew Morgan
-Sandor
-Mordecai Grimes
-Timothy Stokes (not to be confused with Professor Timothy Stokes)
-Professor T. Eliot Stokes
