Subject: Songs about places or that mention places
Written By: ChuckyG on 10/24/13 at 9:33 am
I've been planning on building an entire website around the idea of places mentioned in songs, and places related to music you could go visit (like say the home of Motown)
until then, here's a song about the state my family has lived in for the last 350+ years...

Here's one about my hometown of Portland, Oregon. And yes, the girl in the middle of the first picture is Carrie Brownstein from Portlandia, she's the guitarist and singer.

The Tragically Hip had a hit song in 1990 called 38 Years Old. It was a fictional re-telling of an actual escape that occured in 1973 at Millhaven Institution in the small town of Bath, Ontario.
The Institution is the current home of convicted killer and serial rapist Paul Benardo. As it is an institution, it's not a place one can actually visit, but you can see it from the countryside as you drive over train tracks on one of the main roads that goes through that area

No, no, no, Macca...London's a city - not a town! (The one in the UK is, that's for sure!)
Still, he got the bit about the rain right...
