Sometimes I wonder how previous generations of teenagers would have used Facebook if it was around during their time in high school and college. Imagine what a status update from a sixteen-year-old in 1987 would be. What are your thoughts? Just for fun.  ::)

Considering the "internet" that would have been there at the time, it would have just been text, so Twitter basically?

I was in my single-digits then, but if it were around, I'd probably still be in touch with some of my friends from early elementary school.

If it were around during the 90's, I probably never would have lost touch with my friends from junior high, and I'd be in touch with more of my high-school buddies... in fact, we likely never would have lost touch.

A status update from a sixteen-year-old in 1987? They'd talk about what was popular back then (Music, TV, films)  There would be lots of Reagan boasting and Reagan bashing. I think there would be more optimism from the kids back them compared to the goth/emo kids and the kids of today.  The economy was good.  Lots of youngsters displaying their mullets on facebook  ;D  (It was 1987).

In the computer world, people would have been excited about their 386's (as I was). LOTUS123. I'm not sure if the 486 was mainstream yet in 1987. I don't think we got that at work until 1989 maybe..not sure.  Just thinking about Facebook being run from DOS..makes me laugh  ;D

I have a shirt with that saying as well! First I saw it in a catalog (about 15 years ago or so), and then my parents ordered it and gave it to me as a Christmas gift. I still have that shirt today.

What I am noticing is that photos (in Germany) up to ca. 1981 tend to get a red tone (and were already slightly red 10-20 years ago), while photos from 1982 and later are still as good and as colourful as they were originally. The photo quality from the early 80s until the late 90s was probably the best ever; especially late 80s and early 90s. Even my baby photos look so "high quality" after 27 years. When they began to develop analog films digitally, the picture quality went down again (early-mid 2000s, maybe already late 90s).

Why decadeology? It's what I have noticed and it's definetly a thing that could be generalized. Lots of photos from the mid 80s look clearer and have higher quality than those cheap copies from the early-mid 2000s which I have in my photoalbum (cheaper production = worse quality). I was also and only talking about analog photos. It's obvious that digital photos have the better quality - at least if you know how to handle your digital camera.

I admit that I have been talking about decades and also divisions of decades quite a lot when I have entered that forum - mostly just for fun and to practice my English. Now, after a lot of people complained about this very general stuff (mid part of a decade, 90s kid etc...), I have stopped participating in or supporting those threads.
