Subject: Jazz music

I've always thought that rock and pop were my favorite music genres, but I find myself enjoying several jazz hits. I am going to list some of my favorites. Feel free to add. 8)

Take the A train ~Duke Ellington
Take Five~Dave Brubeck
Strange Fruit~Billie Holiday
Blue in Green~Miles Davis
Round Midnight~Thelonious Monk
Straight No Chaser~Thelonious Monk
In general, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Thelonious Monk, Billie Holliday, Count Basie are my favorite more-well-knowns. I tend to like the older jazz rather than contemporary.
The first time I heard Take the A Train, I was in junior high and our music teacher played it on a sax-no accompaniment; I loved it. It continues to be my favorite in this genre, although some people have told me it is big band, not 'pure jazz' (not sure what is 'pure jazz'?). I like both big band and jazz so I don't care either way! :)

And then the "sequel" which I don't like as much as the first one.

I like "Take Five" also. It seems like a great tune to listen to on a rainy day.

Another great tune with the exception of having forgotten up, until now, that I had to play it over and over in music class on the clarinet :P
