Subject: Songs that change tempo/style in either the beginning or end
Written By: bookmistress4ever on 07/11/12 at 12:19 am
There are a few songs that have either an intro or an... uh outro? that just doesn't seem to match the rest of the song.
A few that I was thinking about were:
The Raspberries - Go all the way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGhF3QAOM0A
Eric Clapton - Layla
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sC2IBZt2jBQ
Mr Big - Just Take My Heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnWKxaDKBHI
What others can you think of?

Interesting topic, Patty.
One that readily comes to mind for me is "Live And Let Die"... both the original by Paul McCartney and the cover version by Guns N' Roses. Although the "change" is more prominent in the original.

"Band on the run" changes twice or three times. (Wings)
"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" changes too (wings)
"A day in the life" ( The Beatles) has a piece in the middle, which has a different style.
"Renegade" ( Styx) changes after an accapella start
"Scenes from an Italian restaurant" (Billy Joel) is another one that changes
"Paradise by the dashboard light" changes a few times...granted it is a novelty song
"The Ocean" by Led Zeppelin
"Over the hills and far away" Led Zeppelin

"Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake; starts with a single instrument sound (possibly a keyboard) and the rock music kicks in after the second verse, more than a minute into the song.
