Korfbal also was a demonstration sport in 1920 (Antwerp - Belgium). It is one of very few games that is played with mixed teams. The game is rather popular in The Netherlands (and Belgium)... ::) We are reigning World Champions (ever since the first edition in 1978, with the exception of 1991 when Belgium won) and European Champions (ever since the first edition in 1998). No wonder the annual meeting of Belgium and The Netherlands is the highlight of the year.
Sadly, there's little competition outside the Low Countries.

American football needs to be an Olympic sport, because I really want to see us play France.  ;D ;D ;D

I suppose I was being facetious...as was another person who wrote an article about it:

This exercise in stupidity sneaked its way on to the O-list in 1984, only to be cast out in 1992. Perhaps this had something to do with the fact that one lonely person floating in a pool could never, would never, be in sync with anyone else (pedants maintain that it's the choreography that is synchronised with the music). Whatever, it's no big loss, and the strange smiles, nose clips and pointless treading of water linger on, courtesy of the two- and eight-person team events.

Golf at the Summer Olympics

Golf was featured in the Summer Olympic Games official programme in 1900 and 1904. At the IOC session in Copenhagen in October 2009, the IOC decided to reinstate this event for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The event will feature professional golfers, many of whom have expressed interest in having golf brought back as an Olympic sport.
