Subject: TV shows that should have never been cancelled.

Two of my favorite shows that were cancelled way too soon were: "V", and "The Event". They both had so much possibility, and I was so incredibly angry when they cancelled them both after only 1 season. Boo!! >:(

My hubby liked "The Event", I kind of lost interest after awhile. Although it would have been nice to see where they'd go with the storyline next.
My hubby and I really are mad that they cancelled this season's "Awake" and "Alcatraz". We liked both of those. It seems like they don't want to show anything that you have to think about, mostly to make room for stupid reality shows.
I wish they had not cancelled "Wonderfalls" a couple years ago. It was quirky.

I didn't know they cancelled Alcatraz! I watched it at first, it was very interesting, but then I kind of lost interest with it. I will have to tell my mom, she'll be mad!

Life on Mars (the British version) had a sequel season called "Ashes to Ashes" that took place in the 80s. It wasn't as good, but it had some interesting moments.
I forgot about Pushing Daisies. I really liked it, especially the musical numbers.

I wouldn't say it needed a new cast....well not an entirely new cast. It needed different directors. And writing restructuring. They tried so hard to make it different from the original CM that they forgot they were making a show for fans of the original. Odd camera angles, uneven story structure, and no real time spent attempting to flesh out who the characters were. I will say, much as I love janeane Garofalo she was wrong for the show. But I think everyone else worked- more or less

In 2006-07, CBS aired a sitcom called "The Class", which only lasted one season. At the end of that first season, some of the storylines were left up in the air, as to what would become of the relationships between the characters. I thought it had an interesting premise, but CBS apparently chose not to continue it. :-\\

I was glad that the Event got cancelled so they could bring him back to Parenthood. I got tired of Lorelei Sarah not having a good relationship and I liked it best when they were together.
I was really worried Parenthood was going to be cancelled...guess they were too since they wrote the season 3 finale like a series finale but, fortunately, the show is coming back for a fourth season.

I'm surprised Parenthood has lasted as long as it has. Back in the 90s, Ron Howard and Brian Gazer tried a Parenthood TV series and it failed miserably

they tried it as a sitcom... or I maybe it was a single camera half hour dramady (ala malcolm in the middle) This is a tradional one-hour drama... it's really good. Nothing major happens, no huge massive storylines it's just a weekly visit with a family who's characters are so well drawn out you really feel like you're visiting old friends. I care about them and want to know where they go, what happens to them. Glad I will get another year to do so....even tho all the season three story arcs got tied up in a nice neat little bow! ;)

It premiered in 1984 on CBS, but was cancelled after it's 1st season in 1985. Summer re-runs brought it back as a mid-season replacement in 1987 and it ran until 1990
This is why Season 1 had The Pembrookes, and Season 2 and on had The Powells

The fugitive ( 1960s)
So they catch the 1 armed man. Richard Kimble is exonerated. Let's see what else they could have done with that show. How about....
Richard Kimble moves next door to Archie Bunker. Becomes his buddy and bowling partner. He kills Mike Stivick (frames Lionel) and marries Gloria (back on the market afte Mike dies). A year later, Richard has an affair with Mildred (boom boom) Turner and Gloria divorces Richard. After several acid trips, Gloria then moves to California and becomes roomates with Janet and Chrissy.

The girl that played Stephanie was also a member of the 90s rock and The New Radicals who had a MASSIVE hit in 1998 called 'You Get What You Give'. She also co-wrote the hits 'Unwritten' and 'Pocketful of Sunshine' for Natasha Bedingfield. She also had a bit role in the movie 'As Good As it Gets'. Archie wasn't as funny without Edith and Meathead as his foils. Cousin Billie and Gary Rabinowitz were weak substitutes. Carroll O'Connor got too much control over the writing and he made Archie too loveable. Just took the sting out of it.

No mention of "WKRP In Cincinnati"? I'm shocked. ??? If CBS hadn't routinely moved it from one timeslot to another, it probably would have lived to see a fifth season.
I would have mentioned that one, but 4 years is about the average success for a TV series. They did bring it back in the 90s as 'The New WKRP in Cincinnati'
I vaguely remember the "New WKRP" but didn't watch it very much.

I didn't realize that it was on for 15 seasons. I know I haven't seen 15 seasons worth of episodes. Apparently they are all available on youtube according to wiki.

The Charmings. It was a sitcom about Prince Charming, Snow White and their family learning to adjust to modern day life after magically being transported 1,000 years in the future. It premiered in 1987 as a mid-season replacement, but got cancelled during Season 2 because the brilliant minds at ABC thought it was a good idea to air it opposite shows on other networks that were currently Top 10 in the ratings.
Memories of this show were not lost. The jingle used before the show cut to commercial was recycled as the closing Vanity Card for the popuar 90s sitcom The Nanny (both shows had the same creators)

How about Archie Bunker's Place? Do you think 4 years is enough or do you think it could've gone on longer into the mid to late 80's? ???

That one actually went on longer than most sitcoms get. Season 1 of Archie Bunker's Place is technically season 10 of All in the Family. I think audiences were getting tired of Archie Bunker at this point. As the 80s went on, all the risqué stuff that show did in the 70s was no longer risqué.
