I like Wayne Brady (Let's make a deal) but I've always thought he was awesome way before LMAD)
Speaking of LMAD, I liked Monty Hall.
Also like Ben Bailey the cab driver/game show host.
Bud Collyer (Beat the Clock), Bill Cullen, and John Charles Daly of the older game shows.
Ken Ober from Remote Control, Alfonso Riberio from Catch 21, David Ruprecht, Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Stein
I even liked Jon "Bowzer" Bauman when he hosted Hollywood Squares. ;D

I always like Bill Cullen. He hosted so many shows.
-Meet Your Match (1949; local WOR series that was canned after two episodes)
-I've Got A Secret (1952-67 as regular panelist and occasional host; also helmed a brief 1976 version)
-Professor Yes 'n' No (1953-54)
-Place The Face (1954-55)
-Bank On The Stars (1954)
-Name That Tune (1954-55)
-Down You Go (1956)
-The Price Is Right (1956-65)
-Eye Guess (1966-69)
-To Tell the Truth (1969-78 as regular panelist and occasional host)
-Three On A Match (1971-74)
-Winning Streak (1974-75)
-The $25,000 Pyramid (1974-79)
-Blankety Blanks (1975)
-Pass The Buck (1978)
-The Love Experts (1978-79)
-Chain Reaction (1980)
-Password Plus (1980; hosted four weeks as a fill-in for Allen Ludden)
-Blockbusters (1980-82)
-Child's Play (1982-83)
-Hot Potato (1984)
-The Jokers Wild (1984-86)
My favorite was Blockbusters.

15 years ago, a couple of teachers from my high school went on Wheel Of Fortune for the "Best Friends Week" (one of them was the cheerleading coach, and the other was the drill team coach), and they won lots of money. They won the maingame and advanced to the bonus round, where they solved the puzzle (whose solution was "SHIPYARD") and a total of $42,000+. When I saw one of them at school the following week, I made sure to congratulate her. She mentioned that Pat Sajak seemed like a nice guy. :)

There's a whammy joke in there somewhere that even I didn't want to make. Press Your Luck was a fun show.
I remember seeing Michael Larson "win" the game. Alas, Larson's ending wasn't much happier than Tomarken's - he got suckered into a pyramid scheme, wound up with throat cancer by 1994, went on the lam after having been drawn into another scam, and eventually died of throat cancer in 1999.

Thanks for helping me discover Wink Martindale, 1959, Deck of Cards. I'd seen that story transcribed as a text file (back before there were HTML files), but I never knew the source went that far back.
So all I have in the hole is the fact that Wink Martindale didn't host Card Sharks, Bob Eubanks did. That's hardly a trump card, so if we're going to talk about Gods Playing Poker, I tip my hat to your ability to remember that little bit of awesome obscurantia. I know when to hold 'em, and I know when to fold 'em. You win the thread!

If I remember correctly, the Shopping segment on WOF was discontinued in the late 80s, shortly before Sajak left the daytime version to host his own Talk Show. It's always interesting to see how game shows still on the air were originally played.
Remember back in the old Price is Right days, cars were priced at 4 digits. Whenever they played for a car that had 5 digits in price, the games 3 Strikes and Dice Game were re-named 3 Strikes Plus and Dice Game Plus

Nice find. Yeah, once upon a time, Wheel of Fortune was a game played for the purpose of having the camera pan over your product whether or not the contestant actually selected it as one of their prizes. When the show hit critical mass and could draw enough advertising dollars on its own (which was very rare for a game show back in the day), it didn't need the in-show sponsors.
The Price is Right worked as a game show because someone in Wyoming might pay $0.89 for a can of soup, and someone from LA might pay $0.99 for the same can of soup, and because they were actually able to make a game out of regional differences in purchasing power parity, even though the brands were national.

I have the computer home game of Remote Control. I don't think I can play it now because I don't have a portal for the discs that came it with (two different kinds). I think I have an external portal that I may be able to use-just haven't tried it.
I also have the home game (DVD) of Deal or No Deal that I bought at a yard sale for a $1. I haven't played it but SIL did once. She took it and brought it back to me about 10 minutes later. She said it was fun at first but then it got monotonous.

He was probably best known for hosting the Dating Game for a 15-year run (1965-80), but he also hosted other shows, including the $1,000,000 Chance Of A Lifetime, which lasted only a couple of years (1986-87).

Anyone remember Willem Ruis..?
Well, of course you don't, because he was Dutch. He had his own game show from 1976 until his untimely death in 1986. Greatly influenced by Richard Dawson, he was nicknamed the Kissmaster (for obvious reasons). In his shows, that grew bigger and bigger over the years, he would also sing, dance and perform with national and international stars (among others: Dionne Warwick, Timi Yuro, Tina Turner).
In one series of shows, the final round for the winning contestants (a couple) would be opening a series of boxes containing prizes. The couple could stop at any given time, but they would lose all prizes they had won should they hit the one box that was locked. I vividly remember one episode where the couple indeed hit the locked box. But Willem Ruis janked the box until the lock gave way...and the couple won the prizes anyway!
Sadly, I can't find any footage of that specific episode.
Ruis insisted his shows would be broadcasted live. He was the first to give away a car in a live show on Dutch national television, to an unsuspecting viewer somewhere in the country. I know, because our neighbours won one...while we were watching.

No one has mentioned Chuck Woolery yet? He hosted a number of game shows.
He was the first emcee of Wheel Of Fortune (in its early years, before Pat Sajak took over).
In the 1980s he was best known for hosting Love Connection and Scrabble (both of which were also on briefly in the early 1990s).
In 1999 he hosted Greed (which spawned from the "Millionaire" craze).
During the 2000s he hosted the GSN original series Lingo, a word game.
