Subject: Your Top Ten Movie Cars.
Written By: loki 13 on 05/03/09 at 6:48 pm
Our classic rock radio station compiled a list of favorite movie cars. Only a few on their list would make mine.
Of course the Delorean from Back To The Future was #1, and the newer Batmobiles were high rated but
they wouldn't make my top ten list, would they make yours?
My Top Ten Movie Cars:
#10...Dodge M4S Turbo Interceptor....The Wraith.
#9...1954 Lincoln Futura....The Original Batman Movie
#8...1958 Plymouth Fury....Christine
#7....1948 Tucker Sedan....Tucker
#6...1971 Lincoln Continental....The Car
#5...1967 Chevy Camaro....Better Off Dead
#4...1932 Ford Coupe....American Graffiti
#3....1969 Dodge Charger....Dirty Mary Crazy Larry
#2...1970 Pontiac GTO Judge....Dazed And Confused
#1...1957 Chevy Bel-Air....Catch Me If You Can (Not the Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio movie)

The Blues mobile that was used in the original 1980 Blues Brothers used to be on display here in my city. Dan Aykroyd owned a bar and he placed the car in his restaurant so that a portion of it looked like it was smashing through the brick LOL

No love for a '70 Plymouth Valiant?
For me, out of what's been given, that James Bond Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5 gets my vote.

By all means. It held it's own after getting the sh*t kicked out of it...
Everybody's lover, everybody's brother, I wanna be your lifetime friend.
Crazy as a rocket, nothin in my pocket, I keep it at the rainbow's end.
I never think of money, I think of milk 'n honey, grinnin like a cheshire cat.
I focus on the pleasure, somethin' I can treasure, can you picture that?
Let me take your picture, add it to the mixture, there it is I got you now!
Really nothin' to it, anyone can do it, it's easy and we all know how.
Now begins the changin', mental rearrangin', nothing's really where it's at,
All of us are winnin, pickin and a-grinnin, Lordy but I love to jam
Jelly-belly gigglin, dancin and a-wigglin, honey that's the way I am!
Lost my heart in Texas, Northern lights affect us, I keep it underneath my hat,
Aurora Borealis, shinin down on Dallas! Can you picture that?
Can you picture that?

Ford Shelby Mustang 500GT "Eleanor"
http://privat.bluezone.no/moa/supercars/photos/67 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500.jpg
No offense but I despise this car, this is not anywhere near the “real” Eleanor nor is it a “real” Shelby GT 500! The real Eleanor is a ’72 Mustang Mach I from the ORIGINAL Gone in 60 Seconds.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3315/3515246044_417c3ff8ae.jpg
The remake starred a FAKE Shelby GT 500 that is still the subject of lawsuits between Haliki’s widow and Carroll Shelby to this day.
The remake of the film was awful, the original one is pretty bad too, but while the acting in the original is just as bad (but at least not claiming to use professional actors to get the same results), the original movie is a whole lot more fun and has a lot more heart than the lame remake.
Just so everyone is up to “speed” director H.B. "Toby" Haliki’s original Gone in 60 Seconds set a record of wrecked cars in the film back in ’74 and longest car chase at 47 mins. Most of it, filmed in my current hometown of Long Beach, Ca ILLEGALLY, WITHOUT A FILMING PERMIT! That’s important to note as Halicki owned each and every one of the cars in the film, all of them, including the ones wrecked and he drove the original Eleanor too. Which was nearly destroyed during filming, but, alas, it still RUNS!

I agree on all the famous icon cars everyone has posted, but have to note the glaringly missing:
Priest’s “Hog” from Superfly.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3330/3515246074_75baa65d7e.jpg
PIMPTASTIC!
James Taylor's (Yes, THAT James Taylor, he is a gear-head in reality) ’55 Chevy from the minimalist road movie, Two Lane Blacktop
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3382/3514437311_225beb488b_o.jpg
or Harrison Ford's ’55 Chevy from American Graffiti http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3596/3515246034_16e1d7563a_o.jpg
(yes, its the SAME EXACT car, different paint, plus bumper, but the same car).
The ’72 Ferrari Daytona GTB3 convertible from the Gumball Rally, the sound of this four carb, V-12 engine is like SEX!
And the most glaring omission (for a car guy)… Steve McQueen’s ’67 Mustang from the movie that redefined car chases in movies, “Bullitt” http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3650/3515246058_6c9ede6e78_o.jpg…how could we forget that?

^ I figured someone would throw in the Mustang from Bullitt but I was never a big fan of
the Fastback Mustang and that's a big reason it didn't make my list.

Wow, I like so many of those cars! Especially The General Lee! Did anyone mention Bumblebee from Transformers?
Matthew wants me to buy a yellow and black 2010 Camaro now that they're out and save it for him, he said I should be ready to pass it down to him in 8 years, right? if I get one of those it's MINE! No sharing...ever!! 8)

Can't think of any right now...but one of my personal faves was Herbie the Love Bug, a classic VW with the number 53 showing on all sides of it.
