well there was some of that fighting for suspicion and gold of various kinds as well but occasionally we actually did seem to have nobler purposes.
added: i think this clip must be present. unless you haven't seen saving private ryan or would like to revisit it, you can skip this one. but you probably know it.

paths of glory. notice the stunning staging of extras, sets, and pyrotechnics. for 1957, totally groundbreaking. and make sure to stick around for the shocking conclusion, you'll be filled with rage.
