Subject: Songs you know that no one else does...and they should!

Do you have a favorite song- one that only you know and you think everyone should hear? Maybe a little known hit or a b-side, or just a tune by an obscure band that deserves recognition?
List it here, but also try to add a link so we can check out your recommendation.
Today I recommend "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" by Roy Ayers. I'ts the best for springtime, and when I play it for other people, they can't believe that it was never a big hit.

^ I've heard of Roy Ayers before, but never that song. It was really good :)
I recommend the 1971 song 'Carry Me' by The Stampeders. It was their first hit of the 70s and went all the way to #2 in Canada. It's a beautiful story song :)

Deborah Gibson songs after "Electric Youth". She's more than an '80's pop princess and give her music a chance!
Songs I reccomend:
"One Hand, One Heart", beautiful ballad that should've been a hit in 1990/1991. Since Paula Abdul, Taylor Dayne, and even Bryan Adams had hit ballads...why not Deb?
"This So Called Miracle" (see above)
"Losin' Myself", her most sensual song
"For Better Or Worse"
"Didn't Have The Heart"
"What You Want", uptempo pop song that would've been a hit of radio have given her music a chance
"Famous", basically about the sorry state of young Hollywood

BAP - Kristallnaach
BAP are a German rock band, and this was their one international hit. Yes, it's in German (or better: Kölsch, the local accent of Cologne), so it's gonna be somewhat hard to understand - but I think you get the "feel" of the song.

I wish I could find a link to the tune, but I can't.
A regional hit from San Jose, California from the mid-90s was called "She" by the band Squeeze the Dog.
I got their demo because I used to chat with the drummer of the band and he sent me the demo that I still play today. Love that song.

Just about anything by Telex. (If you can listen to only one track, check out their remix of the Sister Sledge classic Dance To The Music)
And just about everything by MC 900 Foot Jesus.
The classic Hawaiian Pups song Baby Judy, in which the dog Spot is called upon to "Run Run, Run, to India!"
And a triple-shot of Italo techno-disco-hardfloor-wackiness 20 years before "hardfloor" was invented:
We open up with Down, Down Romeo, by Meccano
The thoroughly goofy Sexy Bon, by Finzy Kontini
We close with Big Tits, by Sex Shop Boys
Finally, if you're after something more current, you're gonna wanna check out anything/everything that synthpop/electroclash artist Liz Enthusiasm has done with Freezepop. There's nothing quite like spending the afternoon listening to presentations by top-rang game designers, astronauts and private-enterprise rocketry principals, and following it up by spending the night rocking out to electroclash until 2:00 in the morning, at what can only be described as a 12-hour rave (!) hosted by NASA (!!), in an aircraft hangar on a U.S. federal facility (!!1!) in celebration of Russian (!1!!eleventy!) astronaut Yuri Gagarin being the first man in space.
Obscure? Baby, I am obscure. I make obscure work.

It seems that this thread is for people to share songs that are not known by alot of people.
I have heard of Kleeer, but did not know this song. I just checked it out on youtube. It is extremely funky and I dig it. This song has it all - a sexy female singer, a string section, a funky bass solo in the middle, deep-voiced background singers, and a falsetto chant at the end.

Excellent stuff you got there... :)
I already knew "Voyage Voyage" (that's a classic IMHO) and "Paroles...Paroles". There's something sad about the latter...It's one of only four songs that were made so-called "Alarmschijf" * over here, and yet didn't make Top 40.
CC Catch never "caught on" in The Netherlands. Odd, 'cause she's better looking than Modern Talking...
* People "in the know" select one song a week that becomes "Alarmschijf" (literally: Alarm Disk). Those songs are believed to have bigger chances of becoming a hit than other songs. The "Alarmschijf" gets extra airplay. The "Alarmschijf" was established November 1, 1969 and like I said, it has happened only 4 times that the selected song never made Top 40...

Very interesting. Paroles is such a great song. I can't believe it never made it into the top 40 (in the Netherlands?). Alarmschijf - very interesting. Are the other 3 Alarmschijf songs that did not crack the Top 40 any good?

Ten Sharp had one international hit that I know of. Their song "You" hit #10 in UK Top 40. I have no information on other international chart successes for either band.
"Nescio" (which means "I don't know") is a song inspired by the books of Dutch author Nescio (real name: J.H.F. Grönloh, 1882 - 1961). It was actually the band's biggest hit over here.
Very interesting. Paroles is such a great song. I can't believe it never made it into the top 40 (in the Netherlands?). Alarmschijf - very interesting. Are the other 3 Alarmschijf songs that did not crack the Top 40 any good?
Yes, I did mean The Netherlands.
As for the other three songs... I don't know. I'll see if I can find them, to give them a listen.
They were "No Time" by The Guess Who, "Les Beaux Jours" by Rika Zarai, and "You're Not The Only Girl" by Jigsaw. (Yes, that's the same band that did "Sky High")

Same goes for the Rika Zarai song (no real surprise), but I did find "No Time" by The Guess Who. I can't imagine that song making a dent in charts anywhere (except maybe Canada)...

The Bee Gees prior to their disco disaster. From the late 60's to mid 70's the Bee Gees put
out some pretty descent music. This is one of my favorites: I won't list any more than this one but
if you go to the link you can play a few other pre disco Bee Gees tunes.

I happen to agree with them having a disco disaster....I heard a pre-disco song of theirs and you would not believe it was by the same group.
Here is one tune...1941 Mining Disaster

I went to listen to this one and wound up listening to quite of few other Bee Gees songs. It's been
a long time since I heard the likes of...Massachusetts, I've Got A Message, I Started A Joke, Words
and To Love Somebody. The Bee Gees were a very underrated talent.

A few people know about The Divys. They're featured on Renegade Retro's partner station, City Of Glass Radio. I did some raw remixes of their tracks "Disco Life" and "A doG Named goD" a few years back.
Here is their video for "Freddie, Are You Single?" (Club Mix). :)
Melissa Dori Dye - also found on City Of Glass Radio. I really like "I Am The Voice". YouTube has a vid for "When You Say You're Sorry".
I also dig V.A.S.T. (Visual Audio Sensory Theater) - here's "Pretty When You Cry" (Explicit Lyrics).
