Subject: Double/Triple Feature DVDs

Written By: whistledog on 03/14/08 at 6:57 pm

Does anyone else like these?  You can get like 2-4 movies in one set that all comes in a single size DVD case

Apart from all the ones shown above, I've also got ...

♦ Major League II / Major League: Back to the Minors
♦ Sniper / Sniper 2

The ones with 3 or more movies generally come with multi discs, but they all come in a single sized DVD case instead of a bulky large box set

I like it when its part of a series... but lately they've been doing this an actor's work or films within the same genre

I alphabetize my  DVDs and when there are multiple films with different titles I wouldn't know where to put them in my collection.

Personally I would buy the Bev. Hills Cop for I & II  could careless about III

I just picked up 48 Hrs. / Another 48 Hrs.

I am tempted to get the Naked Gun trilogy one.  You can also get the trilogies for 'Missing in Action', 'Wild Things', 'Cruel Intentions', 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' in sets like these.  It beats the old days when each movie came as they normally would, packaged inside a big box.  An example for The Naked Gun ...

Original packaging (3 DVD cases inside a BIG box):

new packaging (3 DVDs inside a regular DVD case):

I almost bought one like this today.  It was 'I Spy' and 'S.W.A.T.' in a double feature, but how would you really alphabetize something like that

Yeah, I love these. I just got a triple pack that had all three "Back To The Future" movies for like $15 the other day.

Also another reason I'm happy to see DVD's becoming so undervalued with the new higher definition formats. You can keep buying "Blu-Ray" movies for $30 bucks if you want, but I'll just stick with the DVD bargain section for $10 :)

I've got a couple really old ones.

Night of the living dead (The original Black and White) which was on the same disc as another horror movie classic (I think Francis Ford Coppola's Dementia 13).

It was kinda like going to a drive-in with a double-creature feature.

I was eying up the DieHard triple-pack the other day at the store.  I didnt buy it because I currently find Bruce Willis very annoying.  I loved him on Moonlighting and in the early 90s, but now I cannot stand him.

Also, is it just me or is the first DieHard movie filmed poorly.  Like it did not transfer from big screen to small screen correctly or something?

Like Snozberries says, the only downfall about these is they pair movies together that aren't related by sequel, which makes them hard to file alphabetically.  Regardless, I still get them.  A few ones I got recently ...

♦ Against the Ropes / Necessary Roughness
♦ Drop Zone / Hard Rain
♦ Stuck on You / Say It Isn't So
♦ Eddie and the Cruisers / Eddie and the Cruisers II:  Eddie Lives
♦ Desperately Seeking Susan / Something Wild
♦ "10" / Tarzan the Ape Man
♦ Euro Trip / Road Trip
♦ Crocodile Dundee / Crocodile Dundee II / Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles
♦ What A Girl Wants / Chasing Liberty
♦ Collateral Damage / Eraser
♦ Mannequin / Mannequin 2: On the Move
♦ Three Men and A Baby / Three Men and A Little Lady
♦ Arthur / Arthur 2: On the Rocks

It's probably best you didn't know ;D
Mannequin was one of those movies that didn't need or require a sequel, so of course, there was a sequel which bombed.  It starred William Ragsdale (TV's "Herman's Head") and Kristy Swanson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).  Meshach Taylor reprised his role as Hollywood

Hi Whistledog.

I wanna see the sequel now. LOL. And I loved Meshach Taylor. I already liked him from Designing Women and then for him to play Hollywood, was wonderful. His costumes were great. LOL. And I liek Kristy Swanson.  8)

please let's specify that Kristy Swanson was in the crappy buffy the vampire slayer movie and not the most excellent TV series that followed.

Yeah, I do buy them. I think the last one was a Bogie/Becall set-4 of them: Key Largo, To Have And Have Not, Dark Passage and The Big Sleep.

I also bought all of the Sharpe movies (with the exception of the last one) in a box set. Unfortunately, after I bought it, I realize that it was a Chinese bootleg.  :-\\  We also brought the entire TNG series (all 7 seasons) and again, we realized it was a Chinese bootleg. The next time I buy DVDs, I need to be very careful about that.

I do like multiple film sets if they are complete and I have a few (Back to the Future trilogy, Police Academy complete DVD set). What often happens (and I realised this when I bought 'Saw' trilogy) is that the film franchise isn't complete so you end up buying the box set and then buy the rest as separate single DVDs - which doesn't seem to look right on the shelf.

I loved the original but could not bring myself to watch the sequel - especially knowing Meshach Taylor is the only real link to the original film.

This is a major flaw yes.  Recently, they released a remastered Indiana Jones trilogy box set, and I kept thinking what the point of that was.  As soon as Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls comes to DVD, they'll just make a new box set to include it.  The only problem is worrying if more sequels will follow

I almost bought the Bourne Identity Trilogy on DVD, until I saw Matt Damon on Larry King Live announce there will be a 4th film
