Subject: Favorite Film in a Trilogy:
Written By: Badfinger-fan on 03/09/08 at 4:11 pm
What's your favorite movie within a Trilogy or Film Series? Some seem to have ongoing sequels that never end (some should have never been made). Do you have a personal favorite or do you like them all equally & find it too hard to choose one over the other. Please add any other movie sets that you can think of.
I'll pick favorites later 8)

Some are easy choices for me, as I tend to like the original movie, but with some, it's really diffucult to choose one over the others.
here's my choices:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban
The Bourne Identity
Back to the Future, Part II
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jurassic Park
I can't choose bewtween the next 3
The Fellowship Of The Ring
The Two Towers
The Return Of The King
The Godfather Part II
Superman
I don't care for any of the Batman movies
Live Free Or Die Hard
The Matrix
Return Of The Jedi
Spiderman
First Blood
Rocky
The Karate Kid

I like and wonder why I didn't think of it!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------
HARRY POTTER
Harry Potter I like them all but like Order of the Phoenix the best. I think it by far gave Daniel Radcliffe a chance to prove that he he's a really good actor.
--------------------------------------------------------------
BOURNE FILMS
I've only seen the first one... but plan on watching the others soon
--------------------------------------------------------------
BACK TO THE FUTURE
Hands down the first one was the best!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------
RADIERS/INDY FILMS
I am not a fan of these movies but I will watch them again before the fourth comes out and see if my taste have changed
--------------------------------------------------------------
JURASSIC PARK
I totally choose the last one... Lost World. I remember loving it but I don't remember why- haven't seen it in years.
--------------------------------------------------------------
THOSE HOBBIT MOVIES
Haven't seen em...afraid they won't live up to the hype.
--------------------------------------------------------------
THE GODFATHER films
not a fan of these either but I plan to watch the first one and see if I can figure out what it was I missed the first time around that makes this film so beloved.
--------------------------------------------------------------
SUPERMAN
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE of this list so far.... I love, love, love Superman.
I & II although I usually bypass the origin of Superman stuff in the first film and start it off with Clark's arrival in Metropolis!
So I guess based on that I like Superman II slightly more than Superman because I don't skip anything.
I hated III & IV but I think that scene where Christopher Reeve plays the different sides of Superman conflicting with each other is pretty good and will occasionally pop in the DVD to watch that scene.
I may be the only one who liked Superman Returns... it's not on the level of Superman & Superman but it was way better than III or IV!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------
BATMAN
you didn't give it as an option.... I know it's not in the franchise but BATMAN BEGINS was far superior than those other crap films trying to pass as BATMAN movies... Hell I'd take that Batman movie from 1966 with Adam West & Burt Ward over the Batman movies listed.... sorry Mike.
--------------------------------------------------------------
DIE HARD
mmmm another favorite of my and as a result hard choice.....
Die Hard YES
Die Hard 2: Die Harder NO!!!!!!!!!
Die Hard with a Vengeance YES
Live Free Or Die Hard YES
I say 1, 3 & 4 tie...but 1 holds a soft spot in my heart because it was the first one. And I like the constraints of Nakatomi Tower.
--------------------------------------------------------------
MATRIX
Hate it and every version of it and will not be looking at it again for any reason.
--------------------------------------------------------------
STAR WARS
don't hit me but I kind of liked the sixth one because it shows how vader came to be...
truth is as a kid I loved the 3 core films but Phantom Menace made hate them... I got all excited about phantom menace then went to see it and was disappointed . I hadn't seen the 3 in a long time tho so I decided to rectify my disappointment by doing a SW, EMPIRE, JEDI marathon.... I fell asleep half way through each movie because I was so bored... I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I ever saw in them..... I still did Clones and Sith and now I never have to do any of them again.
--------------------------------------------------------------
SPIDERMAN
Spiderman 2
--------------------------------------------------------------
RAMBO
I vaguely remember watching First Blood and Rambo II back to back on HBO in the 80's I seem to recall I liked Rambo II better
--------------------------------------------------------------
ROCKY
Ohhh loaded question I mean I love Rocky but Rocky III & IV are really good too... I also liked Rocky Balboa. I could've done without V and II seemed incredibly long.
--------------------------------------------------------------
KARATE KID
Absolutely the first one!

Good question Mike, my choice would be:
Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire
--------------------------------------------------------------
The Bourne Identity...N/A I didn't see any of them.
---------------------------------
Back to the Future
---------------------------------
Raiders of the Lost Ark
---------------------------------
Jurassic Park
-------------------------------
The Fellowship Of The Ring....N/A I never seen any of these either.
-------------------------
The Godfather....N/A Three more I haven't seen.
-------------------------
Superman
-------------------------------
Batman
--------------------------------
Die Hard
-----------------------------------
The Matrix...N/A Didn't see any of these.
----------------------------------
Star Wars .....Anything after this one was junk.
---------------------------------------------
Spiderman
-------------------------
First Blood
-------------------
Rocky ....II and III were okay but nothing compared to the original
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Karate Kid, Part II...I liked the first one but I liked II better because it keyed around the Japanese culture.
As you can see, with the exception of Harry Potter and The Karate Kid, I liked the first of the series. I was never into
sequels, I just think the lose something after the first one.
May I add my own series?
Highlander
Highlander II - The Quickening
Highlander III - The Final Dimension
Highlander - The End Game
I loved the first Highlander movie and as far as I'm concerned the other 3 never should have been made

thanks Kevin. I was looking at some of my movies and was wondering which were my personal favorites, and then thought, why not a thread? ::) and thanks for including the Highlander movies.

oops, :-[ If that's one of the movies, it should bne on the list, but I wasn't aware of it and didn't research well enough. my bad
I guess it depends on the viewer....technically its not one of the series...but being a batman movie it could be included...
The only reason I feel like Superman Returns can be included on that list is because that film incorporates a lot of inside stuff from the first and second Superman films... true fans picked up on it right away

Saw... I only saw ;) 1 & 2 but 3 & 4 are on my netflix queue so I will get back to you on these....
I think they are losing the plot with Saw 4 and therefore not really looking forward to Saw 5 (I know Tobin Bell (bloke that plays 'Jigsaw') is contracted for another 2 films - yawn).

and
Scary Movie (2000)
