And it's true, I can be my partner's mother! I'm almost 40 this year, and he's 20. But he is very mature and down to earth...thankfully! We met on a wonderful site back in February. What do you all think about it? How do some of you who are his peers feel about our age difference? I'm very curious to know!

I dated someone once who was a couple years younger than my folks, so 15 years older. Wasn’t an issue. Sometimes I still felt “older” than her because she was all hip and with the times and I was old fashioned.

You just might catch yourself when you try to relate to things that they have no way of remembering. Like the song Hey Nineteen by Steely Dan.

But if reminiscing of earlier days is of zero interest to you and your only interest is making new memories moving forward, then go for it. It might even make things interesting. It works for a lot of people. My uncle married someone 20 years younger than him and they’ve been happily together for over 20 years, even had a couple kids together who are grown up now.

I know several couples with several years difference in age, and it is working for them too.

If you guys are good with each other despite the wide generational differences, then it shouldn't be a problem.

I personally wouldn't date someone really older than me due to those differences, but  hey, it's your life.
