Don't you all hate it when you're eating and talking to someone at the same time. And the food is really good but you can't eat it the way you want to because the person keeps talking to you and you don't want to seem rude...lol. ;D

Well, I like to have conversations at the table with someone while I eat. It helps me to slow down (i.e., not eat my food too fast). On the other hand I don't like when someone asks me a question while I have food in my mouth because I don't feel right about talking with my mouth full. Not only is it deemed impolite, but it can also slur my speech. So I wait to swallow my food before I answer the person (sometimes hold up one hand).

I just cover my mouth if I'm talking to somebody and eating. I agree it's awkward.

I find myself likely to choke if talking while chewing. If I feel something going down the wrong pipe I’ve learned to instinctively breathe out and clear it. I think the natural reflex is to be startled and breathe in and therefore suck the food in and choke.

Having a conversation at the dinner the dining table is a fine art, and only comes with good practice.
