Subject: My issues with conservatism from three sentences
Written By: wixness on 12/26/18 at 10:18 am
OK, so sorry to ruin people's holidays, but while I was looking for a profile picture for another platform, I came across this phrase:
"Communist until you get rich. Feminist until you get married. Atheist until your plane starts falling."
I believe this sums up the right wing's beliefs since the 1980s, especially with their increased support for the free market and their opposition towards certain cultural norms. Practically, they may have a point, but morally, I find their message objectionable, or dare I say hate speech. Hate speech for forcing people to be part of a religion they don't want to be in or for forcing them to be part of any religion at all. Hate speech for forcing women to accept being physically, mentally and sexually abused by men. Hate speech for letting corporations, who only answer to the money they make, take control of your life.

This meme I found online essentially sums up what the world has had to deal with since the Soviet Union stopped being something to fear. Additionally, I have heard that Disney have trademarked a phrase in Swahili, which is as a result of this corporate anarchy that's taking place, caused by a misguided belief that only the market can solve the world's problems. They can also be a monopoly and effectively enslave people into their own desires, as long as the people are paid, with barely any meaningful competition to keep things in check.
I still think feminism is important even though I doubt I am committed to it enough, because without it, we'd all be living in conditions like the days of Saudi Arabia when they didn't permit women to drive. I believe that in the case of the website Tumblr's ban on pornography in December 17, it was done not only in an attempt to remove child sex abuse images from their website, but because of the day that the ban took places, and with one of the ban criterion including "female presenting nipples", this to me signals that they've succumbed to misogyny - bear in mind that in some cultures, women having their nipples exposed is a norm or not as heavily sexualized.
As for my stance on religion, I have written a separate essay on the entire issue together, through this link.

Is there a specific reason why you posted everything at font size -5? Cause I can't read it and am not going to bother to quote it just so I can read it in the editor. If you want people to read your stuff post it at a normal size please. ::)

Trademarks aren't an aspect of pure capitalism though, that's regulated capitalism :P
Also I find the "feminist until you get married" kind of funny, since most the anti-feminists I know personally have a lot of difficulty in finding a girlfriend. :-X

How about anti-feminist women?

Does this person have their own personal definition of feminism and atheism?

Feminism may not be easy to define here - it may encompass modern feminism (i.e. since the 90s or the 2000s), or according to some disgruntled Reddit and YouTube users, since the Suffragette era. It may include pro-choice individuals since this abortion stuff may be tied with feminism.
As for atheism, it would be someone who doesn't believe in God or doesn't practice the teachings of generally more conservative teachings. Basically someone who has no moral objections against having sex for fun and who doesn't know religious passages off by heart, in my opinion.

Conversations are so much work, bruh. Half of the time, you have to put in force to them to make them work. I consider the concept a gifted skill.

The phrase in bold only means that most people are hypocrites
