I went to an NHRA national event for the first time about 10 years ago at Heartland Park near Topeka, Kansas and I have to tell you, if there's one sporting event that TV does not do justice, it's NHRA Top Fuel drag racing.
The engines in Top Fuel dragsters have over 8,000 horsepower. The shockwave that these cars sent out as they roared past the crowd was one of the most awesome, intense, mind-blowing visceral experiences I'd encountered in my whole life. I'd go so far as to say that if you live within a day's drive of a drag strip that hosts NHRA events, it would be absolutely worth your while to attend a drag race.
