I clearly remember one game (Vs San Diego I think) back in the late 70's or early 80's where the Raiders broke a fumble rules (by illegally advancing it)  2 or 3 times in one play and scored the winning TD and the refs were blind to it.

He's a notorious crybaby when he doesn't get his way, and if he doesn't win...he's verbally abusive to his pit crew, he can be a very dirty racer and that can be dangerous. Every once in awhile he does have something good to say, but I usually don't listen because he's a complete jerk 98% of the time.  And what's cool is, since none of you watch Nascar, no one will argue with me on this one! ha  ;)

While I'm at it, Mark Martin. Also Nascar.  But he really only rates one  8-P.  It's not that he's a bad guy or anything, he's just older than dirt. He retired a couple of times, but keeps showing up like a bad penny. I shouldn't give him such crap, because he won a big race this year and wouldn't have if he'd stayed out. He used to drive for Viagra, too.  It's just annoying that guys will actually hang back a little out of respect-thinking they can let him win, but he still doesn't most of the time.  ::)

I have followed NASCAR since 1994 and when Stewart first came on the scene he was out of control he was NASCAR's version of Rasheed Wallace. Tony has definately calmed down a little tough after he won his first championship in 2002 and the last couple years he has been pretty calm. Your right though Tony is not gun shy to state when the top NASCAR brass is wrong though!!! :)

I'm just remarking on the fact that the only way it IS "foot" ball is that on fourth down, you either punt or kick the field goal about 99% of the time...coaches are too chicken to go for it on fourth down :P

Baseball isn't that easy tho. I've played with Pitchers throwing the ball at about 70 mph and I could barely hit it. I can't imagine facing a 90+ mph fastball.

There isn't much bodily contact in baseball (compared to the NBA, NHL and NFL), so it's less demanding in that sense.

True. Although I have never faced 90+ mph pitching, I have faced 70-75mph pitching. Very hard to make contact. I can't imagine facing 95 mph pitching.

I hear ya. My ex was SOOOOO into football (the Cleveland Browns  ::) ) and I was forced to watch football every week. I am one of the few football haters who can actually watch a game and know what is going on. Case point: Again, I was forced to watch a game (outnumbered in a vote) and I basically grumbled throughout the game. The quarterback was sacked and I said, "Oh that's a touchback". The others in the room started to argue with me that it wasn't until the announcer said, "It's a touchback." They all looked at me and said, "How did you know that?"

MJ's Dad always wanted him to play baseball when he was a kid.  He was proud of his son as a basketball player, but that was a dream of his-to see his son play baseball.  So after his Dad died, he tried it as a tribute to him.  No, he wasn't any good at it, but he gave it a shot for his Dad.  That's why- just to honor his Dad's memory. He knew he would never be as good at that as he was in basketball.

Not yet, but if Brad Childress is as dumb as I think he may be, Favre will be wearing a Vikings uniform for half of this season before he stomps off and retires again.  Is he just out to see how many different uniforms he can put his name on or what?

Childress was supposed to fly down to meet Favre today to discuss a deal.  What an idiot.  Childress has stars in his eyes when all Favre wants to do is get on another team, beat everyone down on it, drag the team down, and walk away all in the name of going  :P at the Packers. 

Why can't he just go slip away quitely under some rock somewhere and STAY retired?

Stewart, a Columbus, Ind., native, donated the money to provide 30 vests for the Indiana State Police K-9 unit and 10 for police dogs waiting for vests in Georgia, New Mexico, North Carolina and Minnesota.

Susie Jean of Socorro, N.M., requested a grant from the Tony Stewart Foundation for vests for the 14 dogs currently in the Indiana State Police unit. Stewart upped the amount to cover more vests upon learning the state police unit was expanding to 30 dogs. The vests cost $895 each, according to information provided by the foundation, meaning 40 vests would total more than $35,000.

Jean founded Vest 'N P.D.P. (Police Dog Protection) Inc., a nonprofit that collects donations to purchase bullet- and stab-proof vests for police dogs. So far, the nonprofit has provided 169 vests to police dogs in 22 states, not including the Stewart donation.

"Police work dogs give everything they have in the service of mankind. How nice it is to be able to give them something in return," state police Superintendent Paul Whitesell said in a statement issued jointly Monday by the Tony Stewart Foundation and state police.

I think both of those are too good for him.

I can understand somebody hating Miami in college football I mean with the Miami players doing their acts(hot dogging) in the late 80's/early 90's. You would never find college football top programs of that era like Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Colorado, or Florida doing that kind of stuff.

I can't think of a college program I hate more than USC. Arrogance, undeserved accolades, and now, NCAA violations abound.
