Subject: Belichek and Bonds
Written By: danootaandme on 09/14/07 at 4:11 pm
So, Belichek has been caught spying on the other teams during the game and relaying the information to Brady via the radio in his helmet. A lot of people are defending the Pats saying that everyone does it, and have been doing it. The guys I work with all defended Belichek, me I don't care, I think they are right, but these are the same guys who chewed their guts out about Bonds. So I put it to them, what is the difference. If you say that Belichek was only doing what a lot of the teams are doing so it isn't a big deal shouldn't you feel the same about Bonds? There was a lot of "well it's different" with out qualifying the statement, a lot of just walking away to avoid the conversation, which makes me think I'm right.

As a Browns fan, who's team Belicheat ran into the ground after cutting Kosar in such an undignified manner, I say: HANG HIM!

Saying, "everyone does It," is a childish way of looking at things. Just because everyone does it, doesn't make it right.
Belichek deserves no mercy, he cheated and got caught. He should be suspended like anyone else who steps across the
line of fair play. It's one thing looking across the sideline and trying to pick up a sign or two, but it's another thing when you
tape it and study the film at half time and make adjustments accordingly. The integrity of professional sports is gone, how do
you teach children fair play when a head coach of a major professional sports franchise thinks nothing of cheating to gain an
advantage? This isn't the first time he's been caught doing it and until something severe is done to him, or others who
also do it, it won't be the last.
Now the big question, does anyone think the Superbowl wins are now valid? I don't but unfortunately, you can't take
the victories away from them.
There is no difference, cheating is cheating, and cheaters should be punished.

Looks as though I'm a bit late in posting this story.

I didn't see where that has happened. Do you by chance have a link?
To tell the truth, I'm surprised this type of video cheating hasn't been more prominent. I remember thinking about 10 years ago that, with televised games, camcorders, radios and earpieces, the other team's signals could easily be caught and interpreted, thus giving the cheating team an edge. I thought it would occur in baseball though... imagine telling your hitter exactly where the ball is going to be based on the catcher's signals.
As for comparing this to Barry Bonds, I think it's apples to oranges, but one thing they have in common is the fruit is spoiled.

^ The earpiece in the helmet is standard for quarterbacks. I remember when they first started doing it there was a big to do about it and most thought it would not stay, but it has.

Belichek cheated and should serve at least a suspension, Bonds cheated and should simply be ignored.. in the same way that McGuire's achievements have been swept under the rug, so should Bond's.

Right now there is a dismal attitude over Boston. I think the fans are more ashamed than Belichek who has decided not to discuss the issue. The fans are waiting to see if their favorite coach is actually the wonder boy he seemed, this is the beginning of the season and they will find out if he is actually the wonder coach, or if he is just a schmo who can't do it on his own. Anxiety reigns.

Belichek isn't a Chuck, he's a good coach and he's got a good team to work with.. hence the reason most people are so disgusted with him.
If it was some bum in his first year with a s*tty team.. hey, at least he was trying! ;D ;D

Too true, perhaps we should press to donate the equipment in question to the Browns ;D

I figure the Saints could do with it.
