Subject: 2004 College Football Season

Well...Cal came out here to Colorado Springs today and kicked Air Force all over the field...last I heard they were ahead 56-14 ::)
Right now I'm watching my Buffaloes playing Colorado State...it's in Boulder at Folsom Field and marks the first time this game has been played on either campus since 1997....they had been playing at the old Mile High Stadium and Invesco. Local boy, Palmer High School graduate Bobby Purify scored to put CU in the early 7-0 lead :)

Colorado and Colorado State are tied at 17. :o
Ball State gave Boston College all it could handle, but the offense still couldn't get in the end zone (the defense registered a safety) and lost 19-11 in Muncie Thursday night. :(ÂÂ
And Notre Dame is getting trounced at BYU 13-0 before the half. :-\\
Indiana had a better day, whipping Central Michigan in Bloomington 41-10. :)
And Purdue plays Syracuse (yes, in football) tomorrow afternoon.
Upset of the day: Rutgers knocks off Michigan State 19-14.

Let the smack-talking begin!!! ;)
We have Southern Miss this Saturday. The Left Coast Offense looked pretty good and they executed well on both offense and defense. Special teams flat out sucked. Should be interesting to see how the 'Skers do this weekend.
Also, I wouldn't exactly consider this to be a "cream-puff" schedule. Southern Miss this weekend and Pittsburgh next weekend won't exactly be "gimme's." We also have to play AT K-State and OU, Missouri has become a lot better, and it's too soon to tell how good the Buffs are going to be.
Just do me a favor and beat those @$?%ing Longhorns for me, willya???

We shall try, my friend ;) As for my problem with the Nebraska schedule....from my brother to all the people at his dentists office to even my favorite neice.....getting you guys to admit the non-conference schedule has been weak for a Long time is like trying to get a liberal to admit that Clinton lied to America! The Buffaloes schedule has ranked in the top 10 for schedule stregnth for years while Nebraska has had it quite easy :-\\ I wish you good luck though...except when you play CU ;)

How about those Troy State Trojans?!! They upset 19th ranked Missouri in Alabama 24-14.
Speaking of creampuffs, Creampuff U. itself, Kansas State struggled to beat "mighty" Western Kentucky last week. Next they play a tough Fresno State team, then it's back to Division 1AA with Louisiana-Lafayette.
Way to go!

Not back permanently yet, I'm just visiting back here in Lincoln and am on my old computer, and I thought I'd just drop in. Hopefully I should get a new computer down in KC this week and be back on a regular basis. I wish I could be at this weekend's game here in Lincoln, I'd make a huge banner that says "WE WANT FRANK (Solich) BACK!!!" just to tick off Steve Pederson (NU's new AD, who fired Solich last year despite a 10-3 record). I am also keeping my avatar, you gotta support your team through thick and thin. :)

At least somebody's team won today. Purdue had a chance to put away Wisconsin early, and Kyle Orton fumbles to the D for a go ahead touchdown and gives the Badgers a 20-17 victory at West Lafayette. That would certainly end both Purdue's chances for a National title and Orton's Heisman hopes at least.>:(
In better news, Notre Dame pounded Navy 27-9 on the road. ;D
Ball State loses big again to Bowling Green 51-13. :(

You're right, Mark. But the Little Red had won 2 National titles prior to Crouch's Heisman. Purdue isn't that revered by the writers that much (they still haven't beaten a Top Ten Team since Tiller has been coach), and Jason White, Matt Leinart, and Cedric Benson all had better games and their teams won. I hope you are correct, but history is against Purdue.

You can say that for many other college teams too. Minnesota, K-State, and Nebraska are just 3 of the many teams that like to pad their schedules with Division I-AA and weaker conference teams. And last year was overwhelmingly the worst for BCS committee, which took Oklahoma and LSU for its National championship game instead of far better USC. I don't think they'll make that mistake again. And trust me , Mark, Nebraska is already eliminated from another National title. ;)

Well, I guess I can't fault you for liking Michigan. But Purdue hasn't beaten them since I don't know when. And I think we are due for a home win. But they can't make the same mistakes they did against Wisconsin. Especially if Kyle Orton wants to keeps his already slim Heisman hopes flickering again. Right now, I think Matt Leinart has it rapped up, although Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson is making his case for being the first underclassman to win.

Well, a really sucky day for Indiana schools.
Purdue loses another heartbreaker at home as Michigan gets a field goal and game clinching fumble as they beat the Boliers 16-14. :\'(
Notre Dame had the lead thoughout the day at home against Boston College until the BC quarterback threw a touchdown to Tony Gonzales (not the KC tight end) to beat the Irish for the 4th straight time 24-23. :(
Don't even need to elaborate on the Indiana-Ohio State game. We got skunked 30-7. :-Ball State score if they lose to Akron, which looks like they will. :-\\
Upset of the day: Sylvester Croom's Mississippi State Bulldogs shock #20 Florida 38-31 on a last minute TD. They've won 3 straight over the Gators at home.
Score of the Day: Iowa 6-Penn St. 4. David Ortiz hits a two run homer. ;D
And Oklahoma's Jason White is right back to the front for his 2nd Heisman Trophy as he puts for 385 yards on Kansas in a 41-10 rout.
Congratulations, Mark on CSU winning yesterday. :)
Condolences for Air Force and Colorado losing today. :(

Well, looks like Purdue will be struggling to even make a Bowl game this year after Northwestern defeated our Boilers at Evanston 13-10. Kyle Orton had his worse game this season and was pulled for Brandon Kirsch. :(
In better news, Indiana upsets overrated Minnesota 31-20 in Bloomington. :)

But alas...
Pitt did indeed beat Notre Dame at South Bend 41-38 on a last second field goal, further fanning the flames for Ty Willingham's departure. :(

Purdue and Notre Dame continue their futility in recent Bowls. First Oregon State hammers the Irish for a second straight time, 38-21. Then Arizona State scores a touchdown with 45 seconds left to beat the Boilermakers, 27-23. That makes the Boilers 1-6 in Bowl games during the Joe Tiller era, along with Tiller's 2 losses with Wyoming (maybe he could get pointers from Wyoming's current coach, who defeated UCLA in its bowl game.) Considering how these two teams started, this has been a major disappointment. I don't see firing Ty Winningham and hiring Charlie Weis as an answer to the Irish woes. Hopefully, Ball State and IU will do better. IU should be more sucessful with Miami of Ohio's Terry Hoeppner, or football's done in what was once Bob Knight country.

Jonathan, I'm sorry that your teams lost...I hope you have a Happy New Year though....but not too happy (Like a win over my Broncos!)....I should save that for the other thread :D

I'll just be happy to see the Colts in the Super Bowl (if they can somehow beat Pittsburgh, New England and their first round opponent (whether it be the Broncos or otherwise.)
Thanks for the sympathy for the Indiana schools. The only good thing was that IU's b-ball team defeated Oral Roberts (although one point at Bloomington isn't anything to celebrate. ::))

Cal got slaughtered and the BCS thinks that is justification for putting Texas in the Rose Bowl....I STILL hope Texas loses today. The BCS sucks. Go Wolverines :)

Have to agree with you there, Mark. When the Rose Bowl doesn't get the BSC championship, it should be a matchup of Big Ten vs. Pac 10. Texas is a better opponent but not by much, but Cal should have played Michigan.
In better news, Nick Saban leaves LSU a loser when Iowa score a TD with no time left to win 30-25. If only that would've happened a day earlier, and not with Minnesota, though I'm glad they defeated Alabama. Let's hope Sylvester Croom leads MSU to a Bowl Game next year and the Tide stay home for the Holidays.

Well, texas and Michigan played a great game...Texas won it on a last second field goal, 38-37. Utah leads Pittsburgh 14-0....believe it or not I really like Utah...they are NOT B.Y. pew :D

Did anybody see the Texas-Michigan Game? That quarterback for Texas(Vinny Brown or whatever his name was) that guy looked like Michael Vick out there. Brown was unbeliaveable today.  That 60 yard TD he ran for was something else. They had a stat somewhere in the second half where they said he rushed for 123 yards. That many yards for a QB rushing is unheard of. Thats the reason why I watched that game today. I knew it was going to be a good game. Texas-Michigan was probably the best match-up of this bowl season.

Texas Tech beat Cal. That was a shocker in my opinion.

I hated that and Texas winning over Michigan because now the idiots that run the BCS will sit and gloat over thier genius system that left Cal out of the Rose Bowl ::)

USC is killing Oklahoma 35-10 with less that 2 minutes left in the 1st half.

Ashlee Simpson just got booed at the halftime show. Good God, she sounds just like a sh*t salesman with a sample in his mouth.
