Blue is the colour...football is the game...!

Ahem! Sorry!

True - Spandau Ballet 4 - when they went all 'suited' on us...good track which represented their peak...
Always - Bon Jovi 3 - colossally huge power-ballad...not their best, but good...
Stayin' Alive 4 - effortlessly commercial 'disco' number...still affectionately remembered...
Play That Funky Music - Wild Cherry 5 - irresistable...!
Rock With You - Michael Jackson 3 - got shot to pieces (metaphorically!) by Kenny when I dared to give this a 3 on a previous rating thread...you may as well take aim again, Kenny...
Can't Get Kylie Minogue's Bum Out Of My Head Can't Get You Out Of My Head - Kylie Minogue 2 - incredulously successful over here...therefore played to death mercilessly, therefore bored rigid with it...one for the youngsters, methinks!
Gitarzan - Ray Stevens 2 - not one of his best...
Late In The Evening - Paul Simon 5 - an adventure in rhythm...quite fantastic...
Rapture - Blondie 2 - groundbreaking at the time, but just didn't age well...they nosedived alarmingly from here...
The Message - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five 3 - ...and here's the guy they namechecked on that record! One of the first rap discs to deal with serious issues, but sounds a bit dated now...
One Bad Apple - Osmonds 3 - okay stuff...the boys daring to get a bit funky in some bits...
Kick Out The Jams - MC5 4 - about as subtle as a brick over the head (and possibly as enjoyable, for some!)
Cara Mia - Jay & The Americans 5 - a personal favourite of mine! A stomping re-vamp of a ultra-square David Whitfield & Mantovani ballad which must have frightened the life out of both gentlemen...
Smile A Little Smile For Me - Flying Machine 3 - likeable, but not essential...
Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) - Edison Lighthouse 4 - must surely rank as one of the most over-compiled tracks in the history of mankind...yet for all that, still great...
My Baby Loves Lovin' - White Plains 5 - another favourite of mine! Hyper-commercial bubblegum with a dopey big grin on its face...! Smashing!
United We Stand - Brotherhood Of Man 3 - rousing, anthemic ballad...the common link, of course, with this and the previous two tracks is that they were all sung by Tony Burrows - a UK sessionman - over here, they were all in the chart at the same time, and, legend has it, on 'Top Of The Pops' (our weekly chart show), Tony had to appear three times on the same episode, trying desperately to look different on each occasion...!
More Today Than Yesterday - Spiral Starecase 4 - more cheerful bubblegum-type nonsense...Tony Burrows is not on this...!

hey, somebody got the link!  Tony Burrows...up there with Donny Iris for one of the only people that were in three different one-hit wonder bands.....
