26. Return to me - Dean Martin <3
30. Emotion - Samantha Sang (and the Bee Gees)

YAY!! You got here first! :D
I can give you 3.5 out of 4. The singer for #5 is not Rita Moreno.
Theme guess? One and Two Syllable words in the form of a request or demand?
No, I'm sorry. That's incorrect (in fact, not even close).

47 = "Eyes Without A Face" by Billy Idol.
(I knew a couple others that were unanswered, but this uses up my limit.)

1 - Malcom McLaren, World's Famous (damned if I can guess which mix, and I'm not 100 % sure on the track, but it's gotta be McLaren)
24 - Dinah Washington, Mad About The Boy straddling the line between the original in Fallout:New Vegas and her James Bond-esque performances
39 - Daniel Boone, Beautiful Sunday
The ones I might have gotten have already been claimed; we're either going to need to pull in some Motown experts or we're going to need to call in our parents!

Henk great quiz mate ... quick question ... does the artist not count? For #12, I noticed you combined Karen's correct song with my correct artist. Also, #24 was not answered by me ... it has been credited to me.
#34 " Singing the Blues - Guy Mitchell" ? I only know two versions ... Frankie Lane and Guy Mitchell. In this case it sounds more like Guy Mitchell.

I almost got confused who was singing it. In Canada, there was a cover version by an artist called The Mighty Pope who was in our chart at the exact same time and ended up having the bigger hit here.

Hey there Henk, great quiz as always :D.
My guesses as follows:
#18 My Baby Just Cares For Me - Nina Simone
#23 Out of Time - Chris Farlowe
#37 Lost in France - Bonnie Tyler
#48 Pretend - Alvin Stardust
I'm not 100% sure about #48 as it's only the instrumental break, however I suspect this one may have been in your mind as Alvin left us recently.

I first thought of Teena Charles (I Love To Love). Thought you might have mixed her and Kelly Marie up. But, of course, there is a Teena Marie as well.

That's indeed the title of the song.
#35 Good Year for the Roses - Elvis Costello
Right artist, wrong song. This particular 1986 single (taken from "Blood and Chocolate") failed to chart in UK and US, but it made #15 in the Netherlands. It's a mantra-like song, with the title in just about every other line.

I don't think she did, no, though it's hard for me to get this confirmed. The singer's succes appears to have been limited to mainland Europe predominantly.

Hi Henk! A couple that I recognise, which may whittle the numbers down a bit...
#6. 'That's Nice' - Neil Christian
#14. 'Dear Mrs. Applebee' - David Garrick
#22. The 'singer' is Tab Hunter - hired for his looks alone, rather than for his vocal abilities!
#25. '1-2-3' - Len Barry
#27. 'I Apologise' - P.J. Proby (originally an old Bing Crosby number, who probably never imagined it being sang like this!)
#32. 'Loop-De-Loop' - Johnny Thunder
I'll really stick my neck out with #9 being warbled by Dorothy Squires (but I'm not 100% sure and I can't be asked to unearth my copy of it!)

I'm afraid that's incorrect. The singer for #9 was born in Liverpool in 1943, and started out as one of the Vernon Girls (1961-1964), but she had no solo successes in UK. This particular version of "My Way" was recorded in 1970 and won her the Knokke-Heist festival.

I'm not expecting any answers anymore. I guess the remaining three are too obscure. Ah well, these thing happen from time to time. So here they are:
04. Same Ol' Story - Chip Taylor
A song that did not chart in UK and/or US. FYI: Chip Taylor penned "Angel Of The Morning" and "Wild Thing".

08. I Want To Live - Gavin Friday
Also failed to chart in US and UK. Gavin Friday was the lead singer of the Virgin Prunes, if that rings any bells.
