Subject: Dead Or Alive: The Great Gig In The Sky [Vol. 2] [Last Answers Revealed]
Written By: Henk on 02/05/12 at 1:19 am
It's time for a sequel, don't you think? Well, it's what I thought anyway. :P
So here it is: another 48 songs for you to name.
Each correct answer (artist + song) is worth a point.
Now most of the artists in this quiz are dead, but some are still alive.
Name the ones still alive, and you get 5 bonus points for each correct answer.
All bonus points handed out. The lines in orange are by artists still alive.
Limit = OFF to start with. Have fun, and no cheating!
Hints!
01. One of the most promising R&B acts of the late 1990s, who died in a plane crash in 2001. Give it another go!
09. A member of the rat pack. He wonders how to address a heavenly creature.
12. Actress/singer, best known for playing Catwoman in the 1960s tv series Batman. This is one of her last successes (1983).
14. Aretha's sister.
16. Another member of the rat pack, and perhaps the most prominent one, with one of his lesser known songs (1969, US #75 UK #8).
17. A former member of Skid Row and Thin Lizzy Gary Moore] with one of his solo efforts (UK #31, US #97, NL #2).
He's continuously feeling rather depressed.
22. Founding member of Traffic Jim Capaldi], with a song that featured on the OST of "Best of the Best" .
Crowded House had a song with a similar title.
27. She knows a man who claims he's the King, but she's stopped looking for New England Kirsty MacColl].
33. He was born Christopher George Latore Wallace Notorious B.I.G.] and he puts you in a trance like state of mind.
Following his death, his widow and a close friend sang him a tribute (using a Police song) that became a smash hit.
36. He was born Winston Hubert McIntosh in Grange Hill, Jamaica Peter Tosh], and anything you can do he can do better...
But maybe you remember this reggae singer best for his one-time collaboration with Mick Jagger.
38. His real name is James Ambrose Johnson Jr., and he used to be a super freak Rick James] - but now he just lights up in the dark.
You know - like the tip of a cigarette.
41. A third member of the rat pack with a song from a detective tv series that ran for 4 seasons and was filmed in LA (though set in an unnamed Eastern city).
42. Half sister of Penny Ford (of Snap! fame), with one of her most successful songs (US Dance #11, UK #31, NL #11).
45. One of very few solo successes by this singer (only known by her first name). She was married to Stevie Wonder in the early 1970s.
If you don't know her by now, I'm sure it will come in time...

I'm working on hints for the remaining songs. ;)
Hang on...I haven't had a go yet!
All approaching, if not already, half a century old...says a lot for me! :P
#10. 'Mad About The Boy' - Dinah Washington
#13. 'Milord' - Edith Piaf (for all the classic songs she wrote and sang, this was her only British chart hit!)
#29. 'Buona Sera' - Louis Prima
#30. 'El Paso' - Marty Robbins
#32. 'Mannish Boy' - Muddy Waters (mostly just a riff, but what a riff!)
#40. 'In Dreams' - Roy Orbison
#43. (without resorting to actually playing the thing to check my pronunciation!) ' Dominique' - Singing Nun

All seven are correct, Paul - but since I forgot to credit Jason for #30 you've got one left before you reach your limit.
