Subject: Samples and More - Volume 2 (Game Over)
Written By: whistledog on 04/24/10 at 8:00 pm
Took me a while to do another quiz. The audio portions are much easier to do now than before, but the format is not the same. However, this one keeps in tune with the previous audio quiz that I did. Please enjoy!
Samples, covers or an homage to an older song.
You don't need to tell me the song in the clip, just tell me the original song being sampled or covered.

Okay, I listened to the clip to see if I could recognize any songs being sampled... and here's what I found.
#4: "Stand Back" Stevie Nicks
#5: "Small town Boy" Bronski Beat
#11 "Strange Love" Depeche Mode.
I know a few answers from the other sections, but I'll have to wait till the limit is lifted before I take a stab at those.

These are actually correct. I edited the numbers in the quiz before you posted, so these are all off by one. I guess my editing didn't make it in there fast enough lol
22 - Steely Dan
24 - Air Supply
25 - America
3 for 3 Peter :)

I was almost gonna throw America in with the Trios because they were initially a Trio with Dan Peek, but he left his band mates in '77. He wasn't in the band when they recorded the fantastic 'You Can Do Magic' and 'The Border', so he's not in my quiz LOL
Hi Jason!
#9 Don't You Want Me - Human League
#26 Wham
#35 Bee Gees
Those are correct Amanda :)

20. Everything But The Girl
15. Electronic (although Pet Shop Boys' Neil Tennant was on a couple tracks :D)
3 for 3 :)
Some people consider Tennant a 3rd member as he had a major hand in both 'Getting Away With It' and 'Disappointed'
19 Banarama? (though I thought this was a group of three :-\\)
20 Everything but the Girl
30 Heaven 17
Midas beat you to #20, but your other two are correct. You have 1 more guess :)
Bananarama was initially a trio, yes, but as they continue today, they are now a duo. I could have put them in either section, but I went with duos because they've been a duo longer than they were a trio
Hello...
#27. Blancmange
#30. Heaven 17

Karen beat you to #20 Paul, but your other two are correct. You have 1 more guess :)

The Limit is gone. Post away the answers ...
I won't give hints on any of them because that would be too easy, but here's what I will do ...
I am betting that #8 will prove most difficult, so it alone is worth 5 points :o

#2 is not familiar?
Yes but no.
I did find another one, though: #3. samples Wonderful Life by Black.
No, wait...
#2. must be a David Guetta song, but which one was it again? :-\\ Just A Little More Love? ... No, it's Love Is Gone.

Those are both correct. Guetta also produced 'I Gotta Feeling', the Black Eyed Peas song it samples and he even makes a cameo in the video

It's not so much a sample, but a re-working of the lyrics. It falls under the "and more" part of this quiz LOL
