Okay, so this quiz has got nothing to do with X'es. Couldn't think of anything starting with X... :-\\
Instead, this quiz has a hidden theme. Five bonus points if you can figure it out.
I don't think you can, so I've hidden some hints in this quiz already. ;)
More hints will follow when necessary.
All songs in this quiz peaked at #13 in Dutch Top 40, as Paul guessed correctly.
The limit = OFF. Good luck and enjoy! :)
Hints!
39: A song by the Pretty Things, that has a ring of worship to it, in a rather biblical connotation. It reached #28 in UK.
52: A cascade from two former revolutionaries.

It's OK...You've only exceeded the limit by half a point. And with only 13 questions left (not a bad omen, I hope...) I'm close to raising the limit anyway.

I really should have answered #13. which kind of 'pushed' me in the right direction (which you posted on another thread!) Oh well...
(And I've just heard #30. which confirms it!)
Okay...they were all 'unlucky' songs in the lovely Netherlands, peaking at #13...

The really funny thing is...that's a total coincidence. By the time I posted that song elsewhere I was already working on this quiz, and it just happens to be #13.

I would have said that 48 was Lou Reed - Take A Walk On The Wild Side, but since it has that extra little beats towards the end, I'm guessing it must be some kind of dance remix or something. Since I'm not into that kind of music, I don't know who did it. :(

#47 Someday Never Comes - CCR
One of very few songs by CCR not to make Top 10 in US.
Which leaves us with only three remaining (from 1965, 1991 and 1987 respectively).

39: A "pretty" obscure song by a UK band that also brought us "Midnight To Six Man".
This song (that has a ring of worship to it, in a rather biblical connotation) did not make Top 40 in UK.

You really oughta work on your skills, Paul... ;) ..but you got it right anyway. :)
For obscure reasons, Pretty Things were pretty popular over here, with no less than 6 Top 40 hits in 1965 - 1971 era.
And I'll take a guess on the last man standing...'Waterfall' - Wendy & Lisa (?)
Well done! :) I was a little surprised to see this didn't make Top 40 in UK, and only #56 in US. The girls had five Top 40 hits over here.
And with that, this quiz is finished. That hasn't happened in a long time. I'm proud of all of you! 8)
