Subject: T is for...TV Themes, Tunes and Things [Go Ahead...Fire Away!]

TV Themes (#1 - #50) TV Themes (#51 - #100) TV Themes - Bonus
This time of year, I figured you'll be spending a lot more time watching television
(well, if you're in the northern hemisphere anyway). So what better time to post this quiz?
This quiz contains no less than 100 TV themes, tunes or thingies.
I decided to cut it in two, to keep it clear.
Your job, of course, is to name those tunes. I'm sure you'll have no trouble with that.
And then there's a Bonus Section...It contains 32 clippings from Dutch TV shows/series/programs.
Of course you can't name the show/series, but I figured you might be able to tell me
what sort of program/show/series the tune belongs to (music being an international language).
I'll give you two bonus points for each correct answer.
Please note that there is one tricky question (Bonus #11),
because this is not the opening tune of the program.
On top of this, I might hand out some surprise bonuses
for additional information on the themes (this goes for all sections!)...
Good luck and enjoy!
Merry Quizmas!

The bad news is: you've exceeded the limit. :( The good news is: it doesn't really matter, since #13 isn't Square Pegs, and #18 had already been answered. ;)
I've also assumed you meant #20 (instead of #21). This gives you 6 out of 8. :)

That's a Yes and a No.
A few more while I'm listening.
#20...Family Fued?

#35...I Dream Of Genie?
#46...King Of Queens?
#48...All In The Family?
Yes (but already answered), Yes, No (but you're on the right track), Yes and Yes.
So...4 correct answers in all.

A fantastic quiz Henk! :)
I know my TV very well ...
13 | Degrassi (Junior) High
29 | Due South
53 | Dynasty (composed by Bill Conti)
80 | The Newlywed Game
84 | The Cosby Show (sung by Bobby McFerrin)
89 | WKRP in Cincnatti (sung by Steve Carlisle)
93 | Moonlighting (sung by Al Jarreau)
and for an interesting little tidbit, did you know the WKRP theme was a US chart hit in 1982, shortly after WKRP was cancelled? That version heard in the clip (if I remember) was used in the final season only

#9 is Sex and the City. Hopefully no one got that.
#32 is Wheel of Fortune (interesting how no one got that, as I think it's quite easy to identify).
#65 would be CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
#66 would be, I'm guessing, Miami Vice?
#68 is Touched Be An Angel.
#72 is Desperate Housewives.
Last one, I'll pick #74. Definitely Green Acres.

Hello Jason :)
I think I'll give you seven, although The Cosby Show is actually #83 and you misspelt Cincinnati. ;)
Should I give you bonus points for naming the artists/composer...? :-\\ They are additional information...On the other hand, I think this is kinda general knowledge. So...half a point for each name.
Now the info on "WKRP", about this tune being used in the final season only...that's interesting. If you can give me conclusive evidence on that, I'll give you another bonus point. :)

Hello, and welcome to my quiz. :) Can't remember if we've ever "met" before...
Anyway, your answers are all spot-on. I think people deliberately skipped #32, because you can only pick seven, and maybe they went for some more obscure ones first.
I'm glad you answered #68. I wasn't too sure about the popularity of that series.

Well, I've been here for really long, but I went on a "sabbatical," shall we say. :) #68 was a great show to watch, for Christians and non-Christians alike. A show with morals, which you don't really see nowadays. Anyways, I'll just have to stand in line again until the limit rope is cut. I know much more of these TV themes.

"Touched By An Angel" has been broadcasted here too. Don't know if we got to see all episodes (I don't think so). Although I liked the intention of the series, I didn't like the way people were reformed "in a flash". I found that part a bit hard to swallow, 'cause I don't think it happens that way in real life (not in my experience, anyway).

That's "yes" times five, Patty. :) I deliberately picked the last part of the tune of the "Six Million Dollar Man". I figured it would be too easy with the spoken intro, but you got it anyway. Great job! 8)
Bonus section:
6. Spy show?
7. Game show?
You know...You're so close to the truth, I'll give you the bonus points. :)
#6 is "Wie Is...de Mol?", a concept that has also been broadcasted in the US ("The Mole"). I think you can safely call it a spy show (maybe not the kind of spy show you were thinking of).
#7 is "Klassewerk", a game/quiz show for 11/12 year old kids that aired from 1972 to 1989. Every episode, kids from three different schools would compete on four different subjects: handicraft (a group of kids from every school were given an assignment to finish during the show), music (one kid from every school had to perform a specific piece), general knowledge (one kid from every school, head to head in a quiz) , and theatre (a group of kids from every school had to perform a play). The play and the musical piece were given in advance, to make it possible to study.

Some of those are general knowledge yes, but surprisingly not alot of people realize that's Bobby McFerrin singing that Cosby Show theme. He recorded it for the 1987-1988 season, before he hit it big with "Don't Worry Be Happy"
LOL I always spell Cincinnati wrong :-[ ;D
The WKRP Theme heard in your clip is from Season 4. It is the same theme used throughout the show's 4 season run, just jazzed up a bit to suit the changing music style :)

You could be right, you could be wrong...I don't think you've earned a bonus point just yet. I would like to see some evidence to back this story up. Not to be a nitpicker or anything, but if you come up with something, I think it has to be verified/verifiable (and I'm not planning on doing all the work this time ;)). I hope you understand. :-\\

Studying is a good excuse. :)
Of the ones left, about 10 are American, 7 are Australian, 4 are British and 2 are from other countries. Not entirely sure about this, but I think I'm not far off.
You might still recognize a few, once the answers are out.

Yeah, I was hoping to find a few familiar older American tv songs...but maybe if I listen to them again later, something might jump out at me.

Don't be sad if you don't know any of the remaining ones...they're predominantly Australian.
I'm surprised no one got #1, though... It's an American game show that ran for 24 (!) seasons, with over 3,500 episodes. Maybe I've picked a tune that was only used for one or two seasons... :-\\
#21 is made in UK, by iTV. I assumed it had also aired on BBC, but apparently I'm wrong.
#42 is a UK game show.
#54 is a French drama series (no kidding! ::)).
#76 is an American game show, based on a Dutch concept.
#85 is a UK game/action show, that nobody has ever seen but me. Still, it ran for 7 seasons.
#96 is also from UK, a series based on a book about a horse.
#98 is a Swiss animation series for children, with 104 episodes of max. 5 minutes. I think it has aired almost everywhere in Europe (but maybe not in UK...) and it's very fitting for this board.
All others are Australian.

Always follow your instinct...You are absolutely right in thinking it was "Belle and Sebastian". :) As far as the lyrics are concerned: I'm as puzzled as you are, 'cause they seem to make no sense whatsoever.
In the original series, it was Mehdi (Sebastian) singing this tune (the closing theme, called "L'Oiseaux" /"The Bird") if I'm not mistaken, but for this quiz I've used a version by boys choir "Les Poppys".

#4 is correct, Karen. :) It's the opening tune of Holland's longest running (and most popular) soap "Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden" (or GTST). It first aired in 1990 and it's still going strong (the series recently celebrated their 3,500th episode). Of the original cast, only three characters (and their respective actors/actresses) have remained.
Though #3 also features talking, it's definitely not a chat show. And #5...well, it's just not a detective series. :(

I don't think that would be entirely fair to Graham (maddog), as he would've been first in line to answer one more (hadn't Philip taken four instead of three). It's quite possible he would've answered one more, given the chance. So...I'm not giving the point to anyone.
I've put Philip's name up, because he answered them first, but if you add 'em all up you'll find he gets one point short. It's a judgment of Solomon, but I think it's fairest to all (I've dealt with it this way in the past too, btw).
