Subject: The British 80s - Volume 1 <Answers Revealed>
Written By: whistledog on 05/17/07 at 3:18 am
Using 3 different charts that measured hit singles in Canada, I have taken the highest position between them to bring you 45 Top 40 hits in Canada based on ...

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c362/godeltsihw/british80s2.gif
All UK Artists! and to make this a little easier, you may recognize a few of these from quizzes of the past (consider it a greatest hits of the greatest hits lol). Also, to add a small challenge, the last 5 songs (41-45) are worth 2 points each as they may not be too recognizable due to no chart action in the US or the UK
I hope you enjoy this quiz! ☻

Fine stuff as ever, Jason...
#32. 'Life's What You Make It' - Talk Talk

#38. 'Pale Shelter' - Tears For Fears
#40. 'More Than I Can Say' - Leo Sayer (the follow-up to this ('Once In A While') was a terrific song which undeservedly and inexplicably failed to do anything...)

#35 Small Town Boy - Communards
I just now noticed you said Communards instead of Bronski Beat, and I marked you correct. You still get full points because a) I messed up and b) It's still Jimmy Somerville, so close enough ;)

Ha I always muddle those two up. Too drunk at the night club to take much notice at the time, lack of brain cells now as a consequence!

I often get them confused as well. Jimmy Somerville has that voice that is always recognizable, whether it's Bronski Beat, Communards, his solo career or singing back-up on FYC's 'Suspicious Minds' lol

Well as a Brit, from the 80s, I should have done better here Jason but I can only guess 3.5 of the remainder....
#9 Life Begins At The Hop - XTC (excellent!)
#16 Black Man Ray - China Crisis
#25 Family Man - Sally Oldfield
#26 this is Christine McVie singing but I don't recognise the song

#25 song is correct, but not that artist, but in this quiz, that's close enough. It's Mike Oldfield (female voice by Maggie Reilly)
You got them all correct! :)
#20...Destroyer....The Kinks?
#33...Your Love....The Outfield?
both those are correct :)

#42 was bugging me. I recognised it but couldn't work out who it was by - probably because I haven't heard any Lords of the New Church since the mid 80s
