You're spot-on with those two. :)
Mike (Badfinger-fan) has got some explaining to do... ::)

I've taken the limit off , so you can all give me the other answers you've been wanting to give... ::)

All of the ones I still recognized are gone, but there is still one left I do know ...
16 | Brother Louie '98 - Modern Talking. The A part would be Thomas Anders?

Wrong. You oughta know #8 and #13. I think in both cases you have the album. I'm also guessing you know #29 (once the answer's been revealed).
Wrong again. It is Modern Talking, but it's not the right song. Remember: either song or artist starts with an A - and this time it's not the artist...
That's because I was thinking Brother Louie when I should have been thinking "Alantis is Calling (SOS For Love)"
It sounds like the '98 version from their "Back For Good" CD
#8 does sound very familiar, but I can't quite place it.
#13 sounds like a Gazebo song

And as for #29: I'm looking for a German artist there. The "song" is from 1975.
I was going to answer this one on my first post...
But this version of the song is way, way different from the version I know...
...so I played it safe and didn't answer!
Once I can access the files again, I'll have another listen...

I might have used the 12" version of the song. :-\\
And while you're on it: I think you're pretty much the only person to answer #18, #20, #21 and perhaps #25 before I have to give out hints and clues.
I'm surprised nobody has even given the artist for #31 - it's a well known rock band.

Well, it's not. The artist (band) is Canadian. ::)
Hmmm ... It doesn't sound like Lime, Voggue, Trans-X or Kon Kan, so there must be some Canadian artist I am missing. Any chance on a hint? :)

Got access to the files again (hurrah!), so I can say that...
#29. 'Autobahn' - Kraftwerk

Oh, no pressure on me at all...!!
Okay...
#18. 'Serious' - Donna Allen
The artist of #20. is Argent...don't tell anyone, but I much prefer the Kiss remake!
#21 and #25...no idea!
And as for #31. well, it's Status Quo...I had to dig out my very battered copy to find the title...'Accident Prone'...

All the answers you gave are correct, Paul! :) "Accident Prone" was a much bigger hit over here than in UK, I noticed.
#21 and #25 didn't chart in UK (well, not Top 40 anyway), so that's why you probably don't recognize them. Still, both artists are from UK - as is the band for #28, btw.

Bumped with additional hints.
If this doesn't work, I'll call it a day.
I'm serious folks - no more quizzes if this one doesn't get finished. I'm willing to give you #25 if you give me the others.

#21 is XTC, but I don't recognize the song
as for some guesses ...
8 | Gigi D'Agostino?
28 | Ghosts - Japan?

I'm beginning to think #21 isn't as well known as I thought it was. It's a song about every goodlooking young woman.
I dug out my XTC Fossil Fuel CD, and the song is "All You Pretty Girls" :)

I don't know Japan songs well enough to hear them, so I'll take a guess and say #28 is "Quiet Life"?

Excellent! :) Now there's only three left (two, if you exclude #25, which I don't think anyone's gonna get).
Alright then, here's another hint for #13: they had an album titled "Perhaps".
Song title must start with an A, so it's not right. "Pubescent Intercourse", that's what it is.
#13 - The Associates? I don't know the Perhaps album too well other than 'Those First Impressions' which I know it isn't, so I'm gonna take a guess and say 'Breakfast'?
#28 - Ah yes, then would it be 'All Tommorow's Parties'. I believe that was also their final hit. I have this song on one of the volumes of the U.S. compilation series "Just Can't Get Enough: New Wave Hits of the 80's"

Well, it wasn't lunch and dinner, so it would be breakfast, yes. :)
...and the guessing continues. This is kinda weird, bearing in mind Japan had only the one hit in The Netherlands. None of the songs you've mentioned even scratched the surface. :-\\ Don't know if this helps, but the year was 1979.
The only Japan songs that I know span 1981-1983 :(

Ah. Well, that explains. So no matter how much hints and clues I give, you're never gonna get it, right? ???
Should I leave it for someone else then..? :-\\
Originally yes, I never would have gotten it. I know what it is now, but I can't say. I wanted to know so bad, I googled it, so I am out of the running on that question :-[

Apart from that, I was seriously thinking of including that option when I posted this:
So, in order to finish this one, you are allowed to give me the answer (but you're not gonna get any points for it).
I wouldn't feel right giving the answer. Maybe Paul knows the answer? He's hip on British tunes :)

I don't think so. Japan never had any Top 40 hits in UK. And besides, i don't feel much like waiting any longer.
Must be thinking of a different Japan? They had 9 Top 40 hits in the UK :)
UK #19 | Quiet Life (Sep 1981)
UK #32 | Visions Of China (Nov 1981)
UK #31 | European Son (Jan 1982)
UK #05 | Ghosts (Mar 1982)
UK #24 | Cantonese Boy (May 1982)
UK #09 | I Second That Emotion (Jul 1982)
UK #28 | Life In Tokyo (Oct 1982)
UK #29 | Night Porter (Nov 1982)
UK #38 | All Tomorrow's Parties (Mar 1983)
The song you are looking for .... is it "Adolescent Sex"?
