Hm...quite a few to pick through here...
I'll take the easy way out!
Danoota - correct with #16. and #23. and three quarters correct with #17. - you've identified The Cavaliers as the backing band, but can you name the lead vocalist?
Babooshka - correct with both, Jules...
jaytee - correct with #5. and #13., Janine, but Jules beat you to #10. by about half an hour!
karen - 100% right, but Karen's looking for the original (1969) artist (as it's her question, y'see!) (See my comment to Jeff below)
ktelqueen - Hello stranger! You may have only one, but it's a correct one!
Cat - an oldie but a goodie (but 'nuff about me!)...quite correct!
nally - Pearl Jam did indeed do a version of this Jeff, but it's the earlier version I had in mind...I have noted your comments (below), and I'll try and stipulate what version is needed when I do this again...
Odyssey - thanks for your comments, Andrea...and correct for two!
Indy Gent - ...and correct on that one, Jonathan...

I figured... when I post lyric quizzes and include a song that was later covered, I usually have the original version in mind. For instance, "Working My Way Back To You" was on a quiz I had not too long ago, and someone guessed the Spinners, but the Four Seasons were responsible for the original. I gave that person credit anyway.
I did, at one time, know the name of the original artist for "Last Kiss" (but I don't know that version), but I can't think of their name right now. Maybe someone else will. :-\\

Hiya Paul and Karen
#4 is Kiss Me by Stephen "Tin Tin" Duffy
...a favourite of my wife's while we were at Uni, this song reminds me of the early days of our courting ;D.
I do know a couple of trivia facts about this song, at least I think they're facts....
1. Stephen Duffy was a founder member of Duran Duran but left the band before they hit the big time.
2. The song "Kiss Me" was lyrically inspired by the verses of "The Song of Solomon" in the Bible.

Graham to the rescue!
Hi Graham...yes, absolutely correct!
I wasn't courting at the time (I think!), but the tune certainly burnt itself onto my memory!

I knew #1. but certainly not #2. (and with your permission, I'll add that to my burgeoning collection of wonderful facts...well, I think they're wonderful!)
The only other thing I can tell you about it was that it was originally released (without success) in 1984...

I'm gonna take a guess on #2 ...
Jane Wiedlin had a minor hit in 1985 with a song called 'Blue Kiss'. She was a member of The Go-Go's

The title for #14 is Sugar Candy Kisses. Which was a hit in 1975 in The Netherlands, btw.

Which is very handy, as that's the correct answer, Henk!
(And, my mistake, it was a hit here in the same year, albeit very early...)
And that 'kisses' this quiz goodbye...thanks for playing, one and all...
