Subject: Earth, Wind, and Fire Quiz (killed)
Written By: Windbreaker05 on 02/23/06 at 7:41 pm
Hey again! I thought I'd post another quiz. This is an old one I wrote for another group, but I thought I'd recycle it. I may start going through and posting more of my old quizzes if you like. These are lyrics to song titles containing earth, wind, or fire. Give title and artist. Don't cheat. Enjoy!
Initial limit = Four (4) No more limit
I've revealed the remainder. Thanks for playing, folks. I am determined to write a quiz that holds interest 'til the end!
1. You don't care for me. I don't care about that.
Gaylon (Fire / Jimi Hendrix Experience or Five By Five)
2. I was born the son of a lawless man.
Paul (Ride Like The Wind / Christopher Cross)
3. Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night.
Odyssey (Wind of Change / Scorpions)
4. Smiling at everybody she sees.
CeramicsFanatic (Windy / Association)
5. Pretty and red, pretty and red. Flowers dying in their beds.
Alyceclover (Ball of Fire / Tommy James and the Shondells)
6. It lingered there so warm and fair.
Paul (Summer Wind / Frank Sinatra)
7. Four hundred miles without a word until you smile
Paul (Fields of Fire / Big Country)
8. I close my eyes only for a moment and the moment's gone.
CeramicsFanatic (Dust In The Wind / Kansas)
9. You fought hard and you saved and earned.
Paul (Fire / Crazy World of Arthur Brown)
10. In the chilly hours and minutes of uncertainty
Zella (Catch the Wind / Donovan)
11. I'm riding in your car. You turn on the radio.
CeramicsFanatic (Fire / Pointer Sisters)
12. A month of nights, a year of days
There were two jazzy instrumental versions of this popular tune, as well as several vocal ones. "I set my sail when the tide comes in"
Vince Guaraldi won a Grammy (I think) for his original instrumental version
This one is neither an earth nor a fire song.
One of the artists who recorded a popular vocal version is better known for the song "Angel On My Shoulder"
This one's "Cast Your Fate To The Wind." The Hot 100 vocal versions were by Shelby Flint (referenced in clue) and Steve Alaimo.
13. Suzanne the plans they made put an end to you
CeramicsFanatic (Fire and Rain / James Taylor)
14. Goodbye Norma Jean
Whistledog (Candle In The Wind / Elton John)
15. Oh my love, hear this my plea, becuase of you, it's burning me
El fuego de amor
This hit the Hot 100 for a fellow who also hit with "Endless Sleep." His was not the only version recorded, however.
This artist is no relation to Burt, nor to Mr. Wrap
This guy has a first name that is sound-alike to that of actress Foster
This is "The Fire of Love" by Jody Reynolds
16. How many roads must a man walk down
Odyssey (Blowing In The Wind / Bob Dylan or Peter, Paul, and Mary or many others)
17. Lightning in the air
Gaylon (Fire On The Mountain / Marshall Tucker Band)
18. Look now. Look all around. There's no sign of life.
Whistledog (Planet Earth / Duran Duran)
19. Too much love drives a man insane.
Mooster (Great Balls of Fire / Jerry Lee Lewis)
20. I'm just a fool, a fool in love with you
Odyssey (Earth Angel (Will You Be Mine) / Penguins or Gloria Mann or Crew Cuts or many others)
21. Tell me now, baby, is he good to you?
Mooster (I'm On Fire / Bruce Springsteen)
22. I feel my heart start to trembling whenever you're around.
Zella (I Feel The Earth Move / Carole King)
23. I remember the feeling that I could be free.
A great tune, this. It shares its name with a song that appears earlier in this quiz (but not that much earlier)
Different lyric: "And you ain't you ain't you ain't got no lover"
5000 Volts recorded a song by this name. It was not the same as this, recorded by a group that included Phil Seymour.
7*3 = title
This is the GREAT "I'm On Fire" by Dwight Twilley Band
24. And the world's alive with the sound of kids on the street outside
Cornwallis (Heaven Is a Place on Earth / Belinda Carlisle)
25. No time to wallow in the mire
Mooster (Light My Fire / Doors)
26. Red China, Johnnie Ray
Whistledog (We Didn't Start the Fire / Billy Joel)
27. I can see a new horizon underneath the blazing sky
Whistledog (St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion) / John Parr)
28. Well there is magic all around you if I do say so myself
FBVP (Rooms On Fire / Stevie Nicks)
29. Your mother, she's an heiress, owns a block in Saint John's wood (amended)
Zella (Play With Fire / Rolling Stones)
30. The taste of love is sweet
Zella (Ring of Fire / Johnny Cash)

I have to pick and choose.... at least I knew enough of them that I didn't have to get stuck identifying # 8... :P :)
30. Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash
29. Play with Fire - Stones
22. I Feel the Earth Move - Carole King
10. Catch the Wind - Donovan
Oh, and it should be:
"Your mother - she's an heiress..."

I know two songs that mention Johnnie Ray, and since Come on Eileen doesn't fit the theme of this quiz, then the answer to #26 is We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel ;)

Oops! Sorry about that lyric.
These are all correct! Yeah, admittedly, #8 isn't the best effort of its artist.
All four of those are correct.
#26 is We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel
Correct!
