It's been bugging me for some time but #8 has finally come to me ;D.
It's "The Story Of The Blues" - not sure who the chart entry was credited to, it was certainly written and sung by Pete Wylie but it may have been in one of his Wah! incarnations. I was living in Liverpool in 1983 and Pete Wylie was a well known "face" in the city at the time. I met him in a night club in Liverpool, which I can also say about Ian McCullough, Gary Christian of The Christians, Fish from Marillion and my wife :).

He's really tall, must be 6' 6" or 6' 7" I guess, he towered over me and I'm 6' 2". He seemed like a really nice guy, very happy to talk to drunken students (like me) at the bar.
Gary Christian is also really tall, probably about the same height as Fish. I don't know if The Christians were known outside the UK, they had several hits in the 80s including "Forgotten Town" and a cover of the Isley Brothers "Harvest For The World".
Ian McCullough, however, was a miserable git ::).
