Subject: Artists chain lyrics quiz - finished off
Written By: maddog on 06/16/04 at 5:09 am
For those of you who enjoy Penguin Board Games as well as Penguin Quizzes, I've attempted here to construct a lyrics quiz where the artists are chained by the first and last 2 letters.

#3 & #5 It's The End Of The World (As We Know It) - R.E.Mma Bunton - What Took You So Long
Hi mandamoo, and thanks!
Both of your answers are correct.
However, the chains are consecutive so that #3 actually links to #4 and #4 to #5 and so on.
You have however linked #3 and #5 because the artist for #4 (coincidentally) has the same first and last 2 letters in his name.
Sorry if this is confusing!

Aha! Very well spotted Gwen, I wasn't sure if anyone would get this one as these were about the only lyrics I could remember or ever really decipher!

Sorry nally, that's not it. From the previous link in the chain, the artist for #12 begins with "AS".

Okay then, I looked it up on Google, and found out that the band was Aswad, which I've never heard of. They must have done a cover version of the song or something.
Modified to add:
#1 is "Elected" by Alice Cooper.

Hey nally, sorry if I appeared pedantic there....the artist for this chain is indeed Aswad, a Britsh reggae band who had a UK No.1 hit with this song in 1988. Ace Of Base did another version in 1994. A bit of further research however reveals that neither of these artists wrote the song, the lyrics are by Albert Hammond, he of the "Free Electric Band" and the father of Albert Hammond Jr., the guitarist in The Strokes!
#1 is correct also :).

Hi again...
'Don't Turn Around' first saw the light of day as the B-side to Tina Turner's 'Typical Male'...certainly gave that one away didn't she?!
#13. ...was driving me mad, until I thought to myself 'How many acts start with AD and end with KI?!! Soon became obvious!
The excellent 'Killer' - Adamski (also the career launch pad for Seal who vocalised, but wasn't credited on said record...)
#15. The rousing 'Back Home' - England World Cup Squad 1970
A nice little tie-in what with the Euros going on, maddog! This was the first 'football' song to chart when England went (unsuccessfully) in defence of their World Cup triumph of '66 (great game against the eventual winners, Brazil, tho'...)
As if being knocked out by 'the old enemy' Germany wasn't bad enough, this song was written by two Jocks!! What was the world coming to?
