I'm looking for the theme song to Welcome back Cotter. Any hints on the name, who wrote it, how to get a copy etc?

The song was called "Welcome Back" by John Sebastian. Try either an old LP or a compilation CD.
BTW, the show is called "Welcome Back, Kotter".

The theme song is on the TV Land theme song CD, which is just a very cool CD.

Just to let you know that HORSHACK (Ron Pallilo) and I worked together doing SUMMER STOCK in Kentucky at Jenny Wiley Summer Music Theatre....in 1970 (or was it 1971?)..anyway ..he was NOT famous then..just another guy who was making his way through college , drinking a little beer...etc...and being as funny as ever..The LAUGH is HIS OWN..THAT IS NOT A FAKE ONE...his part on the show was a TRUE person..it is HIM..not a character...
