Subject: Body Parts Quiz - finshed!

Written By: maddog167 on 06/24/03 at 06:42 a.m.

I’m sure this theme must have been done before but here goes anyway.
All these songs have body parts in the title.

For variety's sake I tried to avoid too many “eyes” and “heart” references but there’s several of each of these. It's actually pretty hard to find song titles containing “liver” or “spleen"!

Title and artist please, limit 4.

If anyone gets #17 they can be my new best mate.

Thanks for playing everyone :)

All correct cs, well done.
I think #16 is a traditional childrens' rhyme, I don't know who wrote it. I've seen my kids watching it on "Barney". I've also heard a more "earthy" version on a rugby club tour.

Hi Maddog,

It took me awhile and quote some singing(?) of the lyric, but I think that No.10 is "Total Eclipse of the Heart" - Bonnie Tyler.

Serpently is Hitchy. And your "singing" can't be any worse than Bonnie's can it? Apologies to her and any fans she may have out there but her voice just sets my teeth on edge.

2 for 2 Kenny, well done.
I wasn't sure if anyone would get #6. It was never a single (at least in the UK) and certainly never played on the radio!

It isn't I'm afraid karen, although I wish I'd thought of that one for this quiz! I loved that song although the lyrics are somewhat suspect.

You must know #9 don't you? If I mentioned brown ale, jellied eels and pearly kings would that help?

Hi maddog...

I'll amputate three...

#9. Knees Up Mother Brown (Gawd knows about the singer - probably some music hall star from the Victorian age - Cliff Richard perhaps?!! - I know Chas & Dave done a version, but then, they would....)

#12. Arms Of Mary - Sutherland Brothers & Quiver

#20. (Where are you digging these up from?!!) Deep In The Heart Of Texas - last heard being crooned to death by Bing Crosby, amongst others - apparantly "banned" during WW2 because everyone would stop working to join in with the clapping/banging bit in the chorus...

Regards...

Actually the only one I knew was Billy Idol "Eyes Without A Face".  I searched for the others in google.

Why not give others a chance who actually know the lyric without having to look it up?

Hi Paul - 3 for 3!

Where am I digging them up from? Well, there appears to a subliminal Texas theme in this quiz, what with ZZ Top appearing twice, and I think that's attributable to a drunken night I spent with some Texan exchange students in a pub with a piano in Oxford about 20 years ago....

They were all singing Texan songs including "Deep In the Heart Of Texas" and another one I've never heard before or since that went something like "All My Exes live in Texas, That's Why I Hang My Hat In Tennessee".

I'm with lebeiw15 on this. What's the point of looking the answers up anyway? What purpose does it serve?

Correct Indy, but hey, I was going to give a clue out if nobody got it. This is in fact my favourite single of this current decade, so I thought somebody else might like it enough to remember it.
