All songs in this quiz are featured in the book Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs.  Please include song title and artist with your answer.  Limit eight and good luck!

Answers will be in red.  As people begin listing correct answers, I might include quotes pertaining to the songs from Dave's book.  This commentary will be in blue.

DISCLAIMER:  These songs aren't ones I necessarily think are bad.  They are songs from Dave Barry's book, and I actually like some of them.  I guess what I'm trying to say is please don't be mad at me if your favorite song is in this quiz.  If you have a problem, take it up with Dave, not me.  :)

Some of the songs were in the book just because they had a particular lyric that was absolutely awful.  In this case it was the spectacularly unsubtle "Spread your wings and let me come inside."

I was thinking of the original version - Lesley Gore wasn't it?
Also there was a UK cover version by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin in the early 80s.

#25 - I just got it!

It's My Sharona by The Knack...but was that really what you'd call punk rock?

Sorry, this one has already been answered...as far as my "innacurate" hint, it was good enough of a hint to help two people get the correct answer.  I don't know if The Knack is real punk rock or not...I'm not that big into labeling music.

hannahear - I really didn't mean to cause offence and I wasn't suggesting that your hint was "inaccurate" . It was more that I remember at the time that "My Sharona" was a hit record there was a lot of debate in the music press about whether they were "punk rock" or "new wave". I was only trying to engage in a bit of good natured banter, is all.... :)

Maddog--No offense taken...I wasn't mad or anything!  :)

I said "punk rock" because I couldn't think of any great clues for that one.  The clue didn't matter much to me because I don't care for that band or that song.  As for punk vs. new wave, umm, music is music!   ;D
