It's so rare for me to actually have a choice of which three on quizzes lately! :)

(I don't recall Ike And Tina doing Proud Mary in the 60s.)

1. Lightning Strikes - Lou Christie ... not one of his best
5. Five O'Clock World - Vogues
12. How Can I Be Sure - Young Rascals

No Karen, I didn't... ;)

The Seekers were an Aussie group and they released that song in 1967.  The New Seekers were a British group that didn't start charting until the early 70's and are a totally different line-up.

Oh gosh, Fuss, now I'm  :-[ :-[ :-[!  I could have sworn it was The New Seekers (that's what it said on the CD).  I guess they printed it wrong!  Anyway, thanks for pointing that out to me! ;)

:D :D  That's okay Karen !

They were close hey ?

Similarly there are CD covers over here that credit "Skyhigh" to Jigsaw, rather than British Jigsaw.  Jigsaw were an aussie group that did covers of Yellow River, and How Do You Do, and then their own song Mademoiselle Ninette.

None of those were even mildly similar to Skyhigh, but you know what they say, never spoil a good story with the facts....

I know #8, because it's the one Mr Burns sings in The Simpsons...

# Good morning starshine
The earth says hello
You twinkle above us
We Twinkle below #

That's "Good Morning Sunshine"... now, who it's by, I don't know.

You are correct on the song title, Bobo, and since the quiz is almost done I will go ahead and tell you the artist.  It's by Oliver and it was from the Broadway production of Hair (1969)! :D

Thanks, you're the best. Specially seeing as I'd never have known the artist in a million years.

Even though it's a seventies song, I think that last one is "More Than a Feeling" by Boston.

I'm sorry, PF4Eva, that is incorrect.  This song is most definitely a 60's song by a 60's band.

I guess the last one is "Friends/2020" by the Beach Boys. Those were the only results I got.

This is such a pretty song, I know there's a 3 limit, but it's been a few days and I can't resist anymore ;)

"...that in her heart she'll find, a trace, of love, somewhereeeee... ohhhhh"

Traces - Classics IV Featuring Dennis Yost

BTW... I don't dislike Lightning Strikes, just like most of his others better. I'd say you made some good selections, CF :)

You are absolutely right about #15...it is "Traces" and I agree that it is a very pretty song!! ;)

"Lightnin' Strikes" is the only song I've heard from Lou Christie so I don't really have anything to compare it to.  I tend to listen to more 70's and 80's tunes, but I thought I'd throw in a little quiz with some 60's lyrics.  I am impressed with your wide range of music knowledge, Andrew...you've gotten some that many have been stumped on!  8)
