Subject: For experts only lyrics quiz...

Written By: Zella on 08/10/02 at 11:42 p.m.

I had nothing better to do today for long stretches of time at my yard sale except think up really hard lyrics quizes (mostly album cuts). A couple of easy ones but the rest are really really hard. :o  (These are some of Zella's "soulful selections")

1. Holding up the world with a worn-out simple tune

SB2. I realized only children can live upon a timeless flight

AN3. Thank God for the love that followed -- the angel's remedy

4. Plain as day I slept alone last night

5. I got a lust for glory and a tape machine

MI6. You walked into my life out of my dreams

AN7. She was showin' no surprise

8. We'll meet, I don't know when

9. 'Cus true love they say is just so hard to find

SB10. I was a key that could use a little turnin'

11. I was only looking for a bit of harmony and grace

JG12. I need some place to lay my weary anger down

IG13. And the dawn don't rescue me no more

14. I've seen you in places you ain't been

AN15. I'm not asking you to say words like yes and no

16. I don't want you to hold me tight, until you're mine to hold

IG17. Because there is nothing sadder than losing yourself in a love

IE18. We mad mad love, shadow love, random love and abandoned love

So sorry, Screwball! I didn't realize. I know I used the song in one of my earlier ones (different line); and I thought someone else had used it but didn't remember it being that line. There are so many great lines in that song to choose from! I had part of it in my sig at one time too.

No, sorry Quahog; incorrect. (The Ringo line says something like "you walked out of my dreams and into my car" , so you will see it is a little different wording from the lyric I have posted).

That is correct, but Screwball beat you to it... :(

But keep trying! :)

3. Louisiana Rain - Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers
15. Babe, You've Been On My Mind - Kingston Trio (I think this may've been someone else first, but I'm not sure, this is the version I remember.)

I think I've heard #18, but I'll have to ponder it.

Andrew, #3 is correct. #15 is almost correct -- I know you are thinking of the right song, but the correct title is actually "Mama You Been On My Mind" and the artist I am thinking of is Rod Stewart. It was written by Bob Dylan I believe.

One or two of these still look semi-familliar, perhaps. Either way, I wanted to bump this quiz back up, it's worthy of having more posts. :)
