Actually I was thinking of End Of The World...and yes the Carpenters did do it..in fact, theirs is the only version I've ever heard! :)

I believe you are being confused with "Top of the World". According to sing365.com (which is one of the best souces of song lyrics), there is no record of the Carpenters singing "End of the World". Skeeter Davis was the original artist of "End of the World". :-/

J.C - I had this idea a few days ago - but you beat me to actually posting it! While I was compiling it, my comp crashed so I lost 20 lyrics - and was that annoyed with the PC that I didn't do it again :)
