Subject: A Knight's Game
All those knights who didn't get into the Arthurian legend... a word game for words which start with the sound "Sir" (be that cir-, ser- etc)
As a starter (shamelessly plagiarised from the Radio 4 show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue):
The electrical knight: Sir Kit Breaker
A knight to remember: Sir Mon on the Mount
The avaricious knight: Sir Vissnot Included
and the hopes of the old maids at court are in Sir Mountable

The people in the northern half of England had a poor view of Londoners, to the point they were likened to a cockerels egg (Of all things - Bobo). People of London, at the time, were very insulted by this. Nowadays, the word Cockney is in everyday use by many. Maybe they don't realise it is an insult!

On the same principle, what about Sir Ius, the dog star. Does that mean, if there were three of them, it'd be a Three Dog Knight? ;D

I found this:
Quoting:The etymology of Cockney has long been discussed and disputed. One explanation is that "Cockney" literally means cock's egg, a misshapen egg such as sometimes laid by young hens. It was originally used when referring to a weak townsman, opposed to the tougher countryman and by the 17th century the term, through banter, came to mean a Londoner (Liberman, 1996). Today's natives of London, especially in its East End use the term with respect and pride - `Cockney Pride'.)
End Quote
...though it came to be only those Londoners born within the sound of Bow bells could actually be called Cockneys - I guess it's kind of an inverted snobbery. I guess you could say that as it's not been an insult for a couple of hundred years, it would be surprising if any Londoner was insulted by the term ;-)

Yes, but I wouldn't send a knight out on a dog like that ;-)
