Subject: Post 1974 lyrics quiz (1 left--now with clues)
Yes, people, the quiz you never expected to see from your humble quizmistress: All the following (with one exception) are post 1974 (pause for gasps).
I didn't check these, so hopefully there are no mistakes... :(
I have now added an additional line to the unidentified ones
1. He posed in front of every car. They all called him crazy kid
JG2. But the names you drop are second hand.
JC3. They all fit together in the same machine.
JC4. Sounds real classy living in a chateau.
GS5. But we gotta make the most of our one night together.
FB6. Tie my hands, of course.
SB7. He crept back in her memory.
FB8. You know that talk is cheap.
JG9. I wanted to turn your headlights on.
JC10. Some who succeeded and some who suffered in vain.
FB11. I need someone to protect.
FB12. And if I had those golden dreams of my yesterday.
FB13. I know a thing or two I learned from you.
GR14. You owe it to the people.
FB15. No it ain't so neat to admit defeat.

#7 Tom Petty - American Girl
Subject: Re: Post 1974 lyrics quiz
Hi Zella
For reasons unbeknownst to me, i have no idea about the ones at the top of the quiz.... :'(
# 8 Dream Police - Cheap Trick (great song)
# 12 Feel Like Making Love - Bad Company
# 13 Love Hurts (Jim Capaldi or Nazareth) (I prefer the Capladi version - the Nazareth one 'dragged' too much for my liking)
# 15 I Don' Like Mondays - Boomtown Rats
FB ;)

Right on Pink Floyd, Goreripper! But wrong on the other.
BTW, hope you don't mind me asking, but what exactly is a Goreripper anyway? Sounds like some sort of really ferocious dinosaur that was just discovered.... ;D
Subject: Re: Post 1974 lyrics quiz
No 5. is Bat out of hell by Meatloaf.I once got caught singing this VERY flat with my walkman on at work!! Most embarasing.
Subject: Re: Post 1974 lyrics quiz
The name came from a comment I left in the guestbook on a friend's website. I wrote "Walk with me as I wade through the gore of the false," and it came from that. ;D 'Death to false metal' is a metal catch-cry made famous by Manowar. 'Gore-ripping' is a personal metaphor for my perchant of verbally attacking the comments and opinions of those who are quite obviously hypocrites and pretenders, like those who claim to adhere to a group or subculture simply because it's 'cool', rather than because they feel a particular affinity for it. I don't do it here because everyone here is cool.
;D
Well, you did ask.
:P
Subject: Re: Post 1974 lyrics quiz
Oh yes and I wasn't sure about the Rod Stewart answer but a guy here has been playing 'The Rivers of Babylon' on a continuous loop for hours and it was affecting my capacity to think.
Having said that, I do believe that it is more likely to be from 'Bat Out of Hell' by Meatloaf. I think it is more correctly 'SO we gotta make the most of our one night together.'

You are correct, but Gis beat you to it. Thanks for the correction. I did them all out of my head and only ran a couple thru google when I was not quite certain of the wording...
Your goreripper definition is very interesting. But I still cannot get the picture of some type of particularly nasty Allosaurus out of my head! ::)

2. "Fox on the Run" by Sweet
Subject: Re: Post 1974 lyrics quiz
Correct as always (well most always) Gambo!
Subject: Re: Post 1974 lyrics quiz
Aha !
Zella's weakness for all things stoned tips her hand to the answer to # 11 :
"Waiting On A Friend" by the Roling Rocks (or Stones just so you don't mark me wrong on a technicality)
FB ;D

All correct J.C., except the line in #3 was borrowed from "Cat's Cradle" not "Breakfast of Champions." :)

My bad, Zella! It still was a Kurt Vonnegut novel, wasn't it? ;)

Sorry Joelle, that is incorrect. And all the songs have been solved long ago except for the first one (note that all the rest have the initials of the solver in front of them - check the other posts for the correct answer)
