Subject: Strange things in my town/neighborhood.
Written By: KKay on 11/29/10 at 1:00 pm
We all have them. Can we see some of the strange sights from your town?
I live in a suburb next to marshland and beaches. Some people extend their yards out in to the wetlands or the beach (example, I use the land across the street as a parking lot).
There is a cute little garden nearby, but it is guarded by an insane scarecrow.

it's a bit secluded here, by the beach. people take liberties in personalizing their homes' appearance.

Indeed it's cool Belle de jour,
mais je préfère l'escalier ;)
I said I rather a long stair than a lift, for it's not expensive and quite healthy :P
It reminds me of Montmartre in Paris, but there and then I got the ladder instead of train.
Patty good for you, it's a good way to have a lift onto the ridge and have a nice sight..
I bet you can have a glimpse of the whole town from there. ::)
Barcelona has got some kinda Incline machine to save you from a lotta steps and sweat.
What in summer is a goodness I confess.

Oh we have our fair share of stairs.
Just that you feel like you are going to die once you get to the top of them.

Most people assume that Nashville Tn. is the birthplace of country music, but they are wrong, it's actually Bristol Tn.

I just remembered that where I used to live (just a block or two from the Indian Burial mound actually), there was a Crop circle. I don't actually believe that it is genuine, but it is something strange in my neighborhood.

In my new neighborhood (well actually it's a few miles from my neighborhood, just the next town over) we have a Brontosaurus ? statue
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0c/Carnegie_Library_Dinosaur_with_scarf.jpg
They must really like dinosaurs in this town... We have a Tyranosaurus Rex in front of the Art Institute that occasionally gets dressed up (depending on what is going on in the town.) He is about 8 foot tall. When Lady Gaga gave a concert here, Rex was Gaga-fied.

Several other dinosaur statues here, but this is another "interesting" one. Fredosaurus Rex King Friday XIII (in front of the studio where Mr. Rogers taped his childrens' program for 33 years.

Outside the American Eagle Corporation, they have a neat tree sculpture made of steel girders.

We have a 14-foot tall Big Mac statue near here too.

I was driving in the city the other day and happened across another Stop sign art. This one said "Don't STOP believing", which naturally got me started on an afternoon of Journey songs sung in my car. Good times.
I can't believe I forgot about this sign that is lighted in my city (although some of the letters are burnt out now.)
http://www.post-gazette.com/images4/20070426lfHeinzSign_450.jpg
It is a Heinz ketchup bottle that fills and empties over and over and over and over again. It is near the Heinz plant on the Heinz Historical Center.
Heinz unveiled the sign in 1995 as part of its 125th anniversary. In 2002, Heinz spun off several businesses to San Francisco-based Del Monte Foods Co., including the soup and baby food operations on the North Side. The deal included an arrangement to leave the sign in place for four years.
"Heinz is currently reviewing alternative locations for this iconic sign," said Michael Mullen, director of global corporate affairs for the H.J. Heinz Co. "Our intent is to keep the sign a part of the Pittsburgh skyline."
According to the company, the sign is made of steel and aluminum and stands 42.5 feet high and 32 feet wide. It refills the Heinz keystone logo every 30 seconds. The sign is to be refurbished during its time off.

In honor of breat cancer awareness month, American Eagle Outfitters (whose headquarters are here in Pittsburgh) have hung thousands of bras across a pedestrian bridge near their buildings. I think it also advertises their line of bras too.
