So in the 8 weeks I've been working, I've made friends with some of my coworkers, who all seem like real nice people. Yesterday afternoon, some of us were goofing around with a cardboard cutout of Goofy, and we posed for pictures with him. These are some photos of my adventures with my neighbor and one of her children, a three-year-old named Cathy.  We spent the day together Saturday.  We fed the ducks by the river, played in the dancing waters fountain at PPG Plaza, and then saw a movie.  I guess I should say that they fed the ducks and played in the fountain, I took photos.  ;D
Poor baby has already had a tough life, she was in a house fire when she was one, has had several surgeries already, her dad was put into prison (for an unrelated charge) but may be getting out in Oct.  And she has a one-year-old sister, whom she periodically fights with and loves up on.  ;D

Yes, she is adorable AND yes, she is a handful.  lol  She was raised totally different then I was, she can yell, scream, talk back to her mom, be stubborn and say "No!" to her mom, and pretty much do as she pleases.  It's kind of a mind-trip hanging out with them, at any of those above behaviors, I'd have had my head slapped clear into next week.  So, I knew better then do anything.  I think that is why I'm so quiet (offline) now.  ;D

It's weird to watch.  Although at the theater (she's too young to sit still for a hour and a half, even if it was a cartoon), she ran up and down the aisle, sat in the front row (several rows away from us).  It was only when Cathy started shouting to her mom, did her mom go and get her and smack her bottom and make her sit next to us.  Meanwhile, Cathy is crying.  I wanted to leave with them when it was clear she didn't want to sit.  But I didn't say anything to her mom, I figure she has to be the one to decide how to discipline or not.  She's just way too young to sit that long.  I guess it depends on the kid and the style of discipline already in place at that age, I'd have been fine seeing a movie.  My mom took my little brother and I to see Bambi and also Grease (and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) at the theater when my brother was a year and a half and I was 5, and we behaved.  I don't know.

It's weird to watch.  Although at the theater (she's too young to sit still for a hour and a half, even if it was a cartoon), she ran up and down the aisle, sat in the front row (several rows away from us).  It was only when Cathy started shouting to her mom, did her mom go and get her and smack her bottom and make her sit next to us.  Meanwhile, Cathy is crying.  I wanted to leave with them when it was clear she didn't want to sit.  But I didn't say anything to her mom, I figure she has to be the one to decide how to discipline or not.  She's just way too young to sit that long.  I guess it depends on the kid and the style of discipline already in place at that age, I'd have been fine seeing a movie.  My mom took my little brother and I to see Bambi and also Grease (and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) at the theater when my brother was a year and a half and I was 5, and we behaved.  I don't know.

you're right tho, it's not your place to tell her her parenting style sucks and negatively affects those around her, likewise tho she is going to have a holy terror on her hand once the girl is 14 and thinks she knows everything and mom knows shyt!  It's such a delicate balance.  Like you I was fine in the movies at 5 I was mesmerized by the screen. I don't wanna open the same can of worms I did on FB  ;)  but yeah the mom needs to gain some control before she loses total control...unfortunately she'll find out when she sends the kid to school...unless she plans on home schooling- then it'll make absolutely no difference.  :-\\

Yes, she is adorable AND yes, she is a handful.  lol  She was raised totally different then I was, she can yell, scream, talk back to her mom, be stubborn and say "No!" to her mom, and pretty much do as she pleases.  It's kind of a mind-trip hanging out with them, at any of those above behaviors, I'd have had my head slapped clear into next week.  So, I knew better then do anything.  I think that is why I'm so quiet (offline) now.  ;D

Cathy is a cutie-pie.  I'm just glad I don't have little kids to raise.  Not sure I'd have the 24-hour patience you need to do that.  :-\\

Well, she seems like a cute kid in those pictures. And the backdrops are nice too, with the flowers and all.

Poor baby has already had a tough life, she was in a house fire when she was one, has had several surgeries already, her dad was put into prison (for an unrelated charge) but may be getting out in Oct.  And she has a one-year-old sister, whom she periodically fights with and loves up on.  ;D

I don't think I shared these before.  These are some of my friends from my high school graduating class of 1987.  We had our 25th year reunion last summer.  I went to a small school (graduating class of less then 200) and about 30 people showed up for the reunion.  I didn't know a few people (even in a small school, I guess you don't always meet everybody.)  I was pretty shy back then (and still now.)

This is a small group that we went to elementary school together.

some old friends of mine I saw today. Sadly their mother passed away today was the funeral service. This is Alvin, Dennis, me, & Leonard Moore. they are brothers. I hadn't seen them in over 35 years. I was a bit tentative how our reunion would be but it turned out really good and we got to reminisce about the good old days. (early 1970's) Dennis and me hitchhiked to Yosemite national park and spent a week there backpacking & climbed one of the tallest mountains there, Half Dome and we looked over the edge  :o I think that was in 1971 or 72. good times  8)

I can literally talk to him about everything...  best friends... it is all so great... the best freind I have ever had.... I couldnt see myself living without him by my side... friendship is something I have never had until now, and finally... life rewards me with the best person I have ever had in my life and the best person I could ever wish for.... :')

Earlier this year, in February, my parents and I spent a few hours with our out-of-town friends as they waited in Los Angeles.
This family is from North Carolina; my parents first met them in October 2013 on a cruise trip they'd taken then, and were able to stay in touch and cruise together on at least one other trip. This past February, they were flying to Australia (for a cruise trip there), but their layover in L.A. was going to be for several hours, so we took them out for dinner at a nearby restaurant. So I'm attaching a small version of the picture.

Earlier this year, in February, my parents and I spent a few hours with our out-of-town friends as they waited in Los Angeles.

And last weekend I was remembering that it was a whole year since this photo was taken! (We haven't seen them since, but my mom has kept in close contact with them, since she has their contact info. We even got a Christmas card from them.) :)

Three years later, I can finally add another picture to this thread!

This one was taken yesterday; the woman with me is someone I met through networking; she was hosting a holiday boutique at a small restaurant in the city where I live. Her name is Louise and she's very nice. I have been friends with her for three years. (I even gave her a Christmas card.)  Those of you who know me on Facebook may have already seen the picture.

This is my best closest friend, Noemi. Back in the early 2010s we use to attend the same church. That is where we met. She's married today, and has a beautiful family. We havent had the chance to have pictures taken together because of the pandemic last year and we've both been so busy. But definitely in the future! We're supposed to get together before Thanksgiving. For some tea and pastries and girl time!

I can relate. There are plenty of (close) friends of mine that I have not seen in-person in over a year. (With the exception of a few at church, this past June.)

In private, She did not like to be made to look like a little lady :)
