lol, I am pretty good at recognizing certain fashion styles and how they gelled with the surroundings. It didn't seem too late in the 80's but it definetely wasn't too early in the 80's either. Early 80's still had a very "70's" look to it, so this photo didn't prove to show that to me. Her hairstyle and dress were tell tell signs for me, too.. I'm glad I could guess right on that! Give me some more and let me see what I can do, lol..  ;D

Yeah, probably California, because there was ours here in the bay area, but it's gone now and there's a Chevy's in its place, and there was one in Anaheim. It was so good, but very rich food. and i always overdid it. Now you can tie a tie.

I manage not to think about this upfront most of the time, i supress the feeling. But i guess my 18th birthday made think about it again.

Time goes by so fast. I wished i had a girlfriend back when i was 15, but i thought just wait and it will happen. But i wake up one day, im 18, out of high school, and i still haven't had any sucess in that area of life. I know they say someone of the opposite sex shouldn't have an affect on your happiness, but its hard not to. Besides i dont think that im an unhappy person. I joke around a lot with my uncle and we're real good friends, and i have things i really like a lot like music, and Batman, but even so i just feel like theres a piece of my life thats just missing. I go along fine for awhile, im content, but then i look around and i am still alone. I meet other guys with girlfriends, and many of them don't seem to be any better than me. I wonder if i'm just not loveable in an intimate way. For a person who has such a romantic streak in them, thats a jagged pill to swallow(to steal a line from Alanis morrisette).

About alot of the seemingly uncaring things i said before, those comments came from bitterness in my heart not my true opinions and thoughts. I have such a low romantic self-esteem, i guess commitment actually scares me because im afraid i'll grab on to the first thing to come down the pike and i'll end up being really unhappy.

I guess there are more people out there like me then i think, its just i happen to be surrounded by people not like me. My dad, my uncle, my brother, my cousins, my best friend, they all had success in this area of life early on; i'm almost like the black sheep of the guys i know in this regard. My stepdad even made a joke about it recently, a gay one, because i haven't had a g/f. He was just joking, but it was still a hurtful thing to me.

My best friend(also my 2nd cousin by marriage), whom i've been best friends with since age 5.. he is my opposite. Hes very social and outgoing, lots of friends, the dudes 17 and hes already had several g/f's. He turned out tall, too(im a short guy, from a family of tall guys). I feel like he surpassed me in certain ways. He makes me feel inadequate. I love being his friend, and i think we'll be friends until we die, but theres just this part of me that feels left out. But i just dont have the heart to tell him this. I'd feel to ashamed.

Last time i went to Dallas with my uncle to visit him, as a matter of fact, he left shortly after I arrived to go to the park with his g/f for the afternoon, i barely got to see him. He made the plans before he knew i was coming, but still. It hurt alot. I went into the bathroom and cried. I am sorry to say i've resented every g/f hes ever had.

well....I don't necessarily agree with that 100%. I know a lot of girls who are very outgoing and will initiate a conversation with a guy, no problem at all.  I have initiated conversations with guys many times before.  I understand how it is different in real life approaching girls versus talking to all of us via online....it can be very intimidating at times (I've been in situations like that too). All I can say is....maybe if you are in a situation where you are doing something that is common ground with the other person (example...culinary arts school)....try striking up a conversation concerning that topic.  Talk about cooking....ask why they decided to go to school for culinary arts, ask their advice/opinions during class concerning different assignments, etc....those are the kinds of things that are good conversation starters...that way..you just might find someone really cool who is interested in the same sort of thing you are.

El_Duderino, that surely wasn't very nice of stepdad, especially because you're kind of sensitive right now and joking around can be hurtful. Shake it off, and go for the cooking thing. A majority of the chefs on tv are men, and it will give you an area to be good at something, almost an artist in a way if you get good, and people, (girls) love good food. It's a good talent to have. You'll be able to contribute your culinary talents when given the chance. Get some things in your life that you can be good at, to get some other areas in your life that you can feel fulfilled from besides a relationship. That will be, but it's good to have several things in life that make you happy so that your happiness doesn't just come from that one thing. Thats not all there is. Get involved to the best of your abilities  ;)

Between the ages of 15 and 20 (1997-2002) I didn't have a single boyfriend. I had male friends and some brief acquaintances, but nothing even near a boyfriend. There were some boys who approached me but I think I just didn't know where to begin, and to be honest, I was rather scared of even going there. I was very focus minded and didn't really want a boyfriend to get in the way of my studies. I guess I missed out on stuff because of that, but I just knew I wouldn't be able to handle both. So, when I started college, I became even more in "my own little world". I use to like to hide myself at the top of our library at the college and just read. I was probably really strange to some people - who knows! I did make some friends and even went on a date with one boy in my class, but then that kinda fizzled.

So, hey, don't worry or have regrets about not dating much between 15 and 18, those are probably the least significant years to date someone anyway. You really learn more about yourself dating after 18, from what it looks to me. I think you make more sound decisions, too.

thanks Mike. No, he doesn't play softball, but I know that he would LOVE to do something like that...however, he is on a golf league (he started up last year)....and has learned a lot about golf since then. His league starts back up in April/May...so he's looking forward to that.

At some point, I don't see the reason of not getting married after being together for so long. Mike, that's a little lake called Fallen Leaf Lake, it's on the other side of the 89 right before you get to Emerald Bay.  We rented bikes from this little place off the 89 and rode over to that spot.  It was beautiful.
