Although I have "Great Scam Artist" ready. I kinda want to do a parody of "I'm Yours" because it's a hit song that I haven't got to spoof yet.

What's really funny is exactly a year ago, this time, I was partcipating in the Valwntine's Day contest and my entry a holiday parody of a Jason Mraz song. Now I'm big on not using the same parody in multiple contests (I like to get feedback on all my parodies), but luckily that contest was cancelled so this is the perfect timing for me to get this parody into a contest. This timing is so crazy! What a coincidence that the Jason Mraz round was randomly picked right near Valentine's Day! So it still makes sense to submit it, any other time it would've seemed weird and out of season, but not now! So without further introduction...

I don't recall, there were so many artists nominated. . .I don't think I would have chosen him as a bonus round though. . .but at any rate--he's had a number of big hits so. . .well. . .should be an interesting round.

That said, I'd really like to turn "Geek In The Pink" into something about sinks, but B-Man beat me to the punch on that song. Well, time to think of something else...

I am totally clueless on this one. The only song I ever heard from this guy was Curbside Prophet, and only because of your parody, Dave! It will be a tough act to beat. :(

No, the parody won't require knowledge of 90's Kid from Atop The Fourth Wall, I'm just a dork so I chose to reference it in my announcement. Um...yeah.

I just had to drop in here and say after viewing a load of Youtubes...godalmighty, this guy SUCKS! Combines all of the worst elements of James Taylor, John Mayer and Dave Matthews into a sentimental goo-fest of sensitive acoustic guitar, romantic cliches, mixed metaphors and schmaltz. EEE-yew! 8-P

I Think that's exactly what he means . . . I don't have a strong opinion on Jason Mraz one way or the other, though I have to wonder how his name came up as an artist since he wasn't nominated.  Incubus was nominated, I don't have a strong opinion on Incubus either (I have made it known on the artists I don't like when they come along though-but there aren't many, because like you I rarely dislike anything. )

I did "I'm George" to that and I actually thought about using that instead of "Curbside Prophet" just cause "I'm George" is newer, but Pool Boy Prophet was a huge turning point parody for me, it preluded a lot of bigger tougher parodies and was also one of my first tough recordings. . .it'd be like having an R.E.M. round and me not using "I Was Drunk Late One Night Now I'm Daddy", but "Great Scam Artist" served a different purpose for you than my parody of the same song, so you doing a good parody of I'm Yours makes sense.  Obviously it's up to you, it's good to have options so maybe you should do an I'm Yours parody and see which to enter at that point, still have 4 days.

I do like "Great Scam Artist" but I do want to do a parody of that song... Hmmmm... Maybe just maybe.

That article is funny:)  I don't hate Jimmy Buffet either though, vocally I like both, lyrically and musical I think both are average/ok . . . but I respect your opinion and neither are favorites of mine, but it sounds like a good theme considering his thoughts and yours are obviously not alone in opinion.  I think honestly that not a single artist in artistry is loved by all of us (though all are probably liked or loved by one or more of us, and I know a few were at least okay or liked by all of us) which is part of the beauty of the whole thing, should be interesting to see what you spew on Mraz ;)
